Star rosette lichen, fringed rosette lichen

This foliose lichen grows in round or . . . less round (star like, maybe?) rosettes up to 4 cm across. The upper surface is cream or pale gray, and the lower surface is white to pale brown with white rhizines. It produces lots of thick-margined, black-disked apothecia dusted with pale pruina. P. stellaris is super common, and grows on branches and twigs in cool-temperate, montane, and boreal habitats in the northern hemisphere.
