Lichen appreciation post! These were found on my walk around the creek this morning. Apothecia are so damn beautiful. The t e x t u r e s, omfg.
Also! This little green lacewing larva was hard at work collecting lichen fragments on a hackberry tree. I'd never heard of them until I searched this gal up after finding her, and I learned that the larva collect small bits of lichen to make a packet on their back that functions as camouflage and is used to create their cacoon when they are ready to pupate. So cool!

Moss & lichen pics, if ur nasty >:D
Suddenly remembered that I had a pocket microscope while out fishing yesterday, all of these found within just a couple yards of each other. Lichen diversity within such small areas has always been kinda crazy to me. Any insight on these would be awesome
