Chai Tea: Physical Relationships
For those of you still tripping and not following me on twitter @SnobbyGyrl when I say Chai Tea it means I'm giving you the biz straight no chaser or that you just served up the biz straight no chaser.
Now, to the topic at hand...Purely physical relationships.
I personally don't think there is anything wrong with them. However, I think you need to do some very important things if you are going to engage in them.
First thing first, be honest with you. If you know that you are inherently an emotional person, a purely physical relationship is probably not a great idea for you. Check your timeline, if you RT the movie "The Notebook" account bare minimum 4-5 times a week, I promise you this life is not for you. I mean, there is nothing wrong with being an emotional person (I can't even believe I just wrote that), but you have to own that and not put yourself in situations that are going to get your feelings hurt.
Next, you have to have a very open line of communication with that person. You have to be able to talk to this person, because if you do catch feelings you want to be able to just sit down and say "this was for me at one point, but because my feelings have changed, I need to remove myself from this situation". There should not be a cause for acting a bona fide ass if you both went into this knowing what it is and what it ain't. That would be the other reason communication is important, because you both need to be on the same page before you start wrinkling and staining perfectly good egyptian cotton sheets (I know some of yall still sleeping on them 250 joints from KMart, no shade, but ... treat yourself better and get some good sheets-i digress).
Although, I feel like this should not even need to be said, because it should go without saying, I am going to say it anyway.... protection should not be an option. If you are having a purely physical relationship with someone you clearly do not want this person to be the person you co-parent with, so YTF would you put yourself in a position to create a life with this person. Further, for you individuals who are not as forward a person as me, you damn sure do not want to contract something because you may not be the only person they are in a physical relationship. And to keep it all the way one trillion, if he or she is willing to go raw with you, YOU AINT THAT SPECIAL, they going, gone, or will go raw with someone else. PROTECT YOURSELF.
Now, I am not immune to feelings, contrary to popular belief, but the one thing I always do in all my relationships, be it just physical or more, I always state my B.I. If the status of the relationship is fine with me, I say that. If I want more, I say that. If I want less, I say that. I also ask for the same in return. I assure you, Ms. Cleo was not even a mind reader, so if you don't tell the other person what's on your mind they do not know. People don't convince yourself that shit is something its not. You will find yourself hurt and bitter...and for what? Stick dick and bubble gum or damp box and tic tacs ... its just not ever worth the headache in my opinion.
