Guess what I finally started hyperfixating on...
yep.Bearnuts.
In my defense the artstyle reeled me in
Idk how to mentally process an intense hyperfixation that came so fast, any advice?
What was initially going to be a 5 minute a day read...became a singular 15 hour long read...I'm so tired send help 💔💔💔
Don't panic, I took the occasional break! And slept a bit (at least I hope...)
I guess this is what happens when you read a comic with an intriguing artstyle after drinking far too much caffiene
How many years has it been since I hyperfixated on a comic again???2 years? 3 years?4?5?No clue. (More presumably between 3-6)
If anyone's curious about this series, let me give two quick summaries, based off my interpretation:
Basically a combination of South park,Superjail,Care bears, and Ren and stimpy. Maybe a tiny (and I mean tiny) hint of Steven universe???
A bunch of bears who's entire personalities revolve around their past traumas. Not all of the bears've had their backstories revealed despite the webcomic literally being 16 years old...but I guess patience is key! They all live in a discount zoo together and its quite a hellhole.
(Put coloured text so it didn't look like the two bullet points were mashing together, you're welcome!!! :33)
My review of the comic:
Haven't decided on a rating yet, but I'd say somewhere between 7-9 out of 10. Bearnuts has A LOT...A WHOLE LOT of questionable humor. Don't even get me started on the questionable scenes. Despite that though? It was easy to cherry pick the good (or, at the very least, entertaining) scenes and learn to tune out the weird bits.
Overall, it's quite an interesting series. Unique character designs, character development,a gay slowburn relationship between two characters you'd never think would want to be together if you read the first quarter of the series, lots of chapters, lore, continuity, 900+ pages, lots of stuff!!!
Who's my favourite character??? Probably Gimp, Death or Crack. If I had to choose one I'd say Gimp.
"Why Gimp of all characters?Doesn't he have a questionable character design?!" To put it simple, he's just a chill guy who helps his friends with various southpark-ish situations... and happens to wear that. That's how he is for the majority of the comic. No kinky stuff happens with him at all. Maybe the occasional reference or small implication, but nothing worse than that.
He doesn't show up much compared to the rest of the characters, but when he does, he's often seen bonding with nature, doing first aid , and putting up with whatever chaos is going on at any given moment when he makes an appearance in a chapter.
If you wanna know why he wears it, read this. (Tw:Depictions of animal abuse+parent loss+sexual references)
Is this a bad hyperfixation to have? Should I stop? I'm quite unsure...Advice is appreciated <333
I'm not used to fictional media that has a whole lotta crude humor and questionable scenes, after all.
I feel so much in such short periods of time I feel like I’m going insane, this feeling in my chest feels so deep and intense I’m going to die, I feel like all my nerves are bursting within me exploding my skin. I just can’t control anything, I feel like I’m a tornado constantly wreaking havoc in it’s path.
What can we do to enrich our environment (both innerworld and/or outerworld) for one of our persecutors?
He's been feeling rather understimmulated and has been talking about doing things like making us start rapid switching or putting us in unpleasant situations just because he's bored. (For context, he's also a front gatekeeper, so is able to control which one of us is in front. He's he only one with this ability, so if he does this, no one can really do anything to stop or interrupt it.)
We'd like to help him but aren't quite sure how. He's fairly recently formed so doesn't really have much in the way of identity or personal hobbies or anything.
We're just searching for another outlet for him
(For context, the "enrichment" thing comes from a post where someone was talking about how she found it hard to care for herself until she thought of it as caring for a tiger at a zoo, and how she became more motivated to clean when she thought "the tiger gets distressed at clutter in its environment" and thought of self-care as enrichment and such.)
Does anyone have any advice on Linux? I'm not getting one yet and hopefully not soon, but whenever I do need a new laptop I want to maybe ditch Windows. I hear Mint is a pretty good start for Linux (I think that's what it's called) and I'm confident enough in working with software. I'm just curious what my options are with Linux for someone who wants to take time to get things set up and then just have it work. I don't plan on gaming, or doing any crazy intensive tasks, just basic use.

So uhhh I could be getting fired tomorrow for wearing a rainbow pride shirt to teach outreach about the physics of refraction & rainbows at a catholic school 😬😬😬
I was told by my manager to either cover the shirt, or their principal said I couldn't return to the classroom. I told him I can't follow a rule based overtly on admitted bigotry, so I was sent home.
Any advice for your girl? 😟
