Flower Festival: Planetarium

While Maru was a relatively new addition to the Kismet Planetarium crew, she was already starting to feel close to her fellow staff. She joined in on the flowery festivities, passing out bundles of a couple yellow roses, white freesias, and sunflowers each.

“Happy Flower Festival, everyone! It’s too bad they’re not selling asters down at the city hall. Although, sunflowers are close enough in namesake. And I think they’re in the same family of plants, if I remember right?”

Flower Festival: Kismet Planetarium

[★] — Melody never grew up with a family. Not a conventional one, anyway. 

And though it remained to be a source of both motivation and sadness for her, even to this day, she was grateful for the people she did have in her life. The wonderful friends and co-workers who, in her short time here, had already become like family to her. She had truly been blessed.

So when the Flower Festival comes around, she bursts into the Planetarium, excitedly giving out bouquets to every and any one she came across. Each one consisted of pink peonies, blue roses and red alstroemerias--- all a very colorful way of representing her relationship with them, she thinks. Good-hearted and close knit friends, all with a shared love for something out of their reach.

And yet, they never stopped reaching. That was a philosophy Melody herself personally lived by.

A Spicy Date || Allen & Cinnamon

Allen had surprised himself when he had raised his hand at the date auction. In all honestly, he had only gone to mingle with the crowd, as everyone that would have been out for the evening were at the auction instead. He had known Mistel was offering himself for auction, and quite frankly wanted to be a bit mischievous and threaten to bid for his company to give the manicurist a friendly scare of sorts. But as the auctioneer called off the name of a young woman named ‘Cinnamon,’ he wasn’t so sure what prompted him to raise his hand and offer a bid. 

She seemed cute enough, and when it came down to it, being out the money to have a date certainly wasn’t so bad. He could make a good night of it; besides, when was the last time he had gone on a date simply to get to know someone. The talk they had the night of the auction was brief; she had other date obligations to attend to that evening, so the two had arranged to meet the following evening at the Chagall Cafe. 

For once, the man was early, having left the salon in the care of the other stylists that evening so he may have enough time to dress and get ready for the date. It was nice enough out that Allen did not mind waiting outside the Cafe for the young woman to arrive. He kept his hands in his pockets, one loosely grasping a cardboard box of smokes that only made an appearance when he had a few drinks; he had forgotten to leave them at home. 

He sighed through his nose, enjoying the pleasant, evening Spring air as he watched and waited for his date to arrive.

Starshine || Cinnamon & Elli

It was a clear night out on Arcadia. Perfect for stargazing albeit a little cold out. But that didn’t stop Elli from putting on a light jacket and heading over towards the observatory. As she walked she listened to the crickets as she walked and the occasional owl’s hoot. It was a peaceful night, comparable to the empty loneliness she felt inside herself. 

Once she reached the tower’s door she felt herself hesitate a moment. This would be her first time using the place rather than finding a clearing to lay in. It was a bit too cold for such an act, but up until this point she’d always visited the stars by herself. 

In the end her longing won out as she tried the door. It opened, but she didn’t see anyone immediately inside. “Hello?” she called out, closing the door behind her to keep the cold air out.

Hook, Line, and Sinker || Ivan & Cinnamon

“Ah, what a pleasant way to look at it.” Ivan had never really thought about it much. When he did use his powers for the sake of others, it was so that they might fight back against monsters. Wasn’t that, in a way, creating its own destruction? Or perhaps it was bringing peace to the land, in that it sent the monsters back to the forest of beginnings. Well, even still, it was a catalyst for violence, in some ways. He wouldn’t think too much more on it, though. As long as she understood what he was attempting to explain, that was all that really mattered.

Ah... that was why her name seemed so familiar. Ivan hadn’t given it a second thought when she came to work at the shrine, but the name Cinnamon was rather unusual-- and yet he had heard of someone by that name before. Someone skilled at magic... or something. He wasn’t too interested in the story at the time. It was one of those moments where there was a fellow running around the castle trying to persuade someone to go meet the new chess piece-- those were moments where Ivan liked to skip out on castle affairs. To be fair, he was only nine or ten at the time. He had no interest in meeting people who didn’t want to be met.

There was a chance this wasn’t her, though. And besides, it didn’t matter all that much. Perhaps it was only for the sake of his own curiosity that he wanted the answer to a long forgotten, nonexistent meeting. Before he could think to ask her another question, he remembered he had to respond to hers. With an exceptionally nonchalant attitude, he answered with a smile and ended with a chuckle, “Oh? I’m from the capital. So I guess that whole explanation wasn’t really necessary.”
