[ Sweet 16 Switcheroo - Melody Woods ]

[★] — Melody actually had suspected something off with the potion she was given, what with her experience with alchemy, brewing, and having many a concoction blow up in her face... but she drinks it anyway, her inquisitive nature spurring her on. Just where would this lead, she wondered?

Once she downs the potion and seems to revert to a younger version of herself, Melody grins, her already bright mood considerably lightened. She could feel it running through her--- a more youthful energy, and a giddy, almost childlike wonder towards the dance, and how it would play out with this interesting turn of events.

“So this is what’s going on, huh...?” She muses to herself, twirling in front of the mirror and marveling at how the ends of her dress flared out with the motion. “Can’t wait to see what happens! Hehe~♪”

Cat Got Your Tongue? || Melody & Abigail

[★] — Melody was far from a conceited person, but she wasn’t an exceptionally humble one, either. The witch considered herself to be a fairly talented alchemist, though she knew there was plenty of room for improvement.

Nevertheless, she loved brewing potions and taking on all sorts of challenges with them--- like putting in random ingredients to see what she would get, or attempting potions way above her skill level. Neither of which she was doing now of course, on account of currently being at work.

Because of her current setting, Melody made sure to be very careful in her brewing, since these were products they would be selling to the public. But everyone made mistakes, and the pinkette was not immune to them. In the midst of brewing a cat potion, she overestimates the heat needed for boiling, which causes the concoction to blow up right in her face.

And before she knows it, she’s much smaller than she’s supposed to be, now looking up at her work desk instead of at it. When she tries to speak, a mewling sound comes out in place of words. Welp. Melody was now a cat — a cute, uniquely colored pink cat — and she could offer no explanation as to why when one of her co-workers steps into the workshop at that very moment.

Instead, all she can offer is a cute and slightly distressed, “Meow~?” when she turns to the purple haired woman.

Bath Census || Melody & Pia

“Not so good… I thought everyone would love them. The normal baths are good, but no one wanted to try the new one.”

Pia sighed, pushing the papers to the corner of the desk and frowning. All she wanted was to get the bathhouse more recognition like one she used to work at before moving here. There was this one person who would always try her ideas no matter how silly they might have been and would return her census completed and with amazing reviews. Even if one might have accidentally stained their skin…

Her frown turned into a smile when she thought about Melody’s compliment again.

“They are cool! Cooler than cool, they’re ice cold! And I was thinking colored bubbles for next week. Lots and lots of pink~!”

[★] — Melody frowns. Well, that was no good. Pia’s ideas were always so fun and interesting! She was aware people had their preferences, and that unique wasn’t normally looked favorably upon... but Melody was the exact opposite.

She embraced unique and weird, and was always looking for ways to make life fun and exciting! Pia seemed to have a similar outlook on life, and that was something the alchemist always appreciated.

“Colored bubbles!? Whoa! That sounds super cute!” She giggles, “What are you going to use for the coloring? Colored herbs? Bath bombs? I have a few I’ve been making, so I could totally lend you some. Plenty of grasses, too!”

Half-Baked Concoctions || Melody & Laney

“Um… Perhaps… ” She taps the bottom of her lip. “Follow me.”

She gestured with one hand to follow. There were several ovens, refrigerators, and large countertops dusty with flour. Out front, it was nice and neat, but in the back, it was a bit of a mess. It always was cleaned up at the end of the day though. Laney scanned the area and with a snap of her fingers, she walked over to one of the refrigerators and opened it.

“Now, this may seem a bit strange, but I actually have a meat pie. There’s this guy that comes in here and he doesn’t like sweets too much…Truly tragique… But would this work? Whatever it is that you’re doing ahah.”

[★] — Melody watches curiously as the woman goes to one of the refrigerators, her eyes widening in interest when she pulls out a pie. Just as the witch begins to wonder what sort of pie this lady would have that she didn’t want to sell, the blonde helpfully supplies that information, pulling an intrigued ‘oooh’ out of the alchemist.

“Meat pie!? That’s new.” Though she has heard of stuff like hamburger pies, and wasn’t pizza a sort of pie too? Hmmm. “It’s something I’d like to try myself, actually, but for now... we experiment!”

Grinning excitedly, Melody takes the pie and sets it on a nearby counter, and then takes out a vial of Mind Reading Potion. She dashes a bit of it onto the pie, marvelling as the liquid seems to dissipate on impact, instead of sinking into the crust and making it soggy. Interesting, interesting... but would it work.

“Knife and fork, please! I shall now sample the dish.”

“Really? Is that okay?” Ying had been trying to find a responsible grown up to live in the house with her. Now, she’d found one who was willing to bring a friend along, too! That meant two grown ups! Plus, with Mr. Wizard and his friend Frey next door, that was plenty of grown ups to help look after Ying.

“You can come! And you can bring your roommate too!” Ying beamed as she looked up at the witch from the other side of the counter. “I can show you were I live so you don’t get lost, okay?”

[★] — “Yeah, totally okay!” Melody nods, her decision already made. There was no way she was going to let this child continue to be alone, not if she had anything to do about it. She just hoped Cinnamon wouldn’t be too upset with her for making so rash a decision without her input...

Melody returns the girl’s bright smile with one of her own, delighted to see the other so happy. “Okay! You can come back once the inn closes, then, or I could meet up with you somewhere?” Taking out a slip of paper and pen, the witch quickly jots down her phone number and hands it to Ying. “Or you can just call me, and we can set up a time to do it.”

Terrable didn’t exactly grasp the concept of money. The last time he had taken a mortal form he had been revered as a god, so going around and being expected to pay for things was completely out of his comfort zone— not that he could read the common language either.

However, no matter where he went he had managed to evade the police, especially since his own kin seemed to be their leader.

“I demand to enter the baths, and I do not intend to pay.” Terra spoke boldly as he entered the bath house, towering over the meek… w-wizard? Witch? Sorceress? What was she doing at a bath house?

[★] — A variety of personalities tended to pass through the inn. Some agreeable and others... not so much, but Melody regarded them all with a friendly smile and sunny demeanor regardless. She wasn’t the sort of girl to be easily put down by things, not even peoples’ sour attitudes (in most cases), so when unruly customers started to make a ruckus, she always managed to stand her ground.

But even the unflappable Melody couldn’t help but feel intimidated by this particular customer’s towering stature and booming voice, and when he enters the building and makes his grand proclamation, the witch approaches him with a nervous smile.

“Er... I’m sorry sir, but we don’t offer any free baths. You’ll have to pay.” She hoped he wouldn’t get too upset. “The cheapest runs for about 500G, so that isn’t so bad, is it...?”

“Ahh, I don’t get it.”

Pia held her own made census for the bathhouse in her hands and walked back to the front desk. She had recently gotten a few back that were all good, but none of them wanted to try her new and improved baths. It didn’t make sense to her. This week’s was a bath full of bubbles - who wouldn’t love that?

She sat at the front desk and hummed in thought. This meant that she needed bigger and better ideas! Something like more bubbles or colored bubbles.

Ooh, colored bubbles!

She quickly scribbled the thought down before she forgot and looked up at the sound of footsteps. Sometimes she forgot she was the boss of this place and wasn’t used to the employees walking up to her.

“Hi-ho, Melody~♪”

She sang. It was something that she always did with her name; a melody with Melody!

[★] — “Heeey, hey, Pia~! ♪”

Melody sings back, waving cheerfully as she approaches her boss. Though she didn’t feel like one, what with how friendly and approachable she was. Pia felt more like a buddy than a superior, and the witch figured they could be pretty good friends if they hung out more outside of work.

But as nice as that sounded, that wasn’t what she was here for--- Melody had something else on her mind right now.

“Oh, is that the bath census?” She questioned, spotting the papers in the other woman’s hands. How convenient! That was just what she wanted to talk about. “How are they looking? I thought your ideas for the new baths were pretty cool, so I wouldn’t be surprised by any glowing reviews!”

Half-Baked Concoctions || Melody & Laney

At first, Laney assumes it was just to see what went on in the kitchen. If that made this girl more interested in baking then that would be fantastic! She found it to be such a relaxing, fun, and tasty hobby that she would love to see more people doing! She stops when she feels her wrist being caught.

“Well, I would certainly like to be there. I would like to know what you plan on doing, hehe~"

She did own the bakery and it would be a shame for it to get reported because this girl was throwing something strange into her sweets! Even if she meant no harm, she didn’t want to risk anything.

Laney ordered someone to watch over while she went to the back and turned back to the girl and nodded, signaling she was ready to go.

[★] — Glad to see that the woman would be coming along with her, Melody waits until she gets her other business settled before heading into the kitchen, the witch’s grin widening when the sweet scent of fruits and cake batter fill the room. So this is where all the baking magic happened, hm? Kind of reminded her of the kitchens back at the inn.

“Alright! So...” She looks around, placing her hands on her hips, “Do you have anything you’re like... test baking? Nothing you’re planning on selling, I guess?”

“Um… Well, the house is mine, so I should live there…” She had the paperwork and everything. The social worker had told her new guardian that Ying should have an adult living in the house, too, but Ying wasn’t about to ask him to move from his house. He only lived next door, which should be good enough…

“There’s another girl who lives next door, but she lives with my guardian.” Ying wracked her brain trying to think of anyone else that could live with her, but she simply was at a loss. “T-There’s no one else, I think…”

[★] — Melody was slightly more comforted to know that the girl at least had some neighbors to look after her, but she still wasn’t comfortable with the thought of a small girl like her living all alone in what she assumed was a relatively big house.

And when she says there’s no one else, an idea begins to form in her head.

“...There’s really no one else, huh?” She hums, “Well, what if I helped out? I could stay with you for a while, until we can find someone!”

“I could bring my roommate along, too! The more the merrier~♪”

Flower Festival: Pandora

[★] — Their first meeting might have been a bit awkward, what with Melody thinking she was a lost child and all, but that wouldn’t stop her from reaching out to the other girl. She found Pandora to be a pretty amusing person! And super cute, too. Not to mention really powerful as a mage, which was something Melody admired.

She wanted to be friends with her, and while she wouldn’t want to force any of that on the other girl, she figured a kind gesture like a flower would at least be nice.

And so she does just that, handing a white calla lily over to Pandora the moment she sees her. “Hi, Panda! Happy Flower Festival~”

Flower Festival: Yuzuki

[★] — “Hey, Yuzuki!”

With a cheery hum, she places a red alstroemeria behind the man’s ear as she passes him by on the streets, the young witch out and about as she made her flower giving rounds. Since she was running out of daylight and still had a few flowers to pass out, she had to keep the run in short.

Flower Festival: Ying

[★] — Melody was on a quest to gift as many people as she could for the festival, both friend and stranger alike, and the small girl she met only a while ago was definitely on the list. Ying wasn’t someone Melody knew particularly well, but she felt a sort of kinship with the child, with them both being orphans.

Plus, she felt sort of protective over the kid... like an older sister, and wanted to be there for her. Sure, a flower wouldn’t help with that, but at least it would bring a smile to her face!

“Hey, Ying! Happy Flower Festival!” She says when she finds the girl in question, handing her a white calla lily. “A flower, for you~”
