It was meal time when it happened. Maia was navigating the space between the tables, aiming for an empty chair with enough leg room for her to stretch out. She had a book pinned against her side with her elbow but it was slipping as she walked. When it ultimately slipped from her grasp she was behind a female cadet who she recognized as a couple years younger than her. When she tried to catch the book it slipped through her fingers and clattered to the ground, sliding under the other girl's chair. "Oh no," she said aloud, briefly wondering if she could just casually squat down and pick it up.
Deciding it would be too strange she awkwardly tried to get the other girl's attention, "Um, 'scuse me..."
