Learning Art Shit
I work in tech, but honestly it’s not what I salivate over learning about on my time off. I have other interests such as dance (mostly watching amazing young dancers like Delaney Glazer move their bodies the way I could only dream of), I longboard skateboard, and do other board sports. I also tried my hand at writing a really bad paranormal romance novel that took too much of my time to promote, so I gave up on being a smut author (even though I actually wrote a second book but never self-published it).
So yeah, I already have some hobbies. But the one thing in my youth and young adulthood that I always wanted to learn, but never got around to/had the guts/patience for is to learn how to draw and or paint.
But now I don’t give a shit. Yeah, I’m that age.
Recently I just went for my first trip to Southern Europe and hit up Barcelona, Ibiza, and Paris and in Barcelona I took a painting class where I had to copy Picasso’s Margarita Maria. While I’m not a Picasso fan, I had fun trying to recreate the painting (mind you I’ve never once painted and don’t know how to draw). But, me being me I got bored and after making a couple of mistakes I just went rogue and did my own thing. This is how it turned out lol:
Obviously I have some learning to do! But hey, it was fun and I’ve actually made a couple of other paintings since then doing my own thing that I’ll post later.
I decided to start blogging again doing a mix of tech and art including journaling me learning both to hopefully inspire someone who is afraid to jump in and try something new.
Whether you’re learning Tensorflow to train a neural net, or trying to copy a Picasso while drinking wine in Spain...
My advice is akin to Nike’s so ignore your self doubts and “Just Do It!”
