November 14 is Pickle Day

See ya in hell, vegetables! It’s National Pickle Day! Established in 1949 by the Pickle Packers Association (now Pickle Packers International), the holiday has been celebrated with relish for the past seventy years.

We’re salting away our vegetables today with this ca. 1930s pamphlet from the Worcester Salt Company, a salt supplier founded in Warsaw, New York in 1894. In the decade prior to this pickle pamphlet’s publication, the company’s customers were rewarded for their brand loyalty with tokens proclaiming them to be part of Worcester’s "Don't Worry Club", a popular commercialization of the Don’t Worry Movement inspired by the 1890s writings of Theodore Frelinghuysen Seward (1835–1902).

Just click here! You’ll have to find a suitable substitute for Worcester Salt, though, as the company was purchased by Morton Salt in 1949.

Went to a pickle fest pickle party where we had pickle food and pickles and played pickle pong and pin the pickle on the jar and got little sewn pickles and had a pickle king and queen :))) absolutely amazing time 10/10 the event of the year I was possibly more into it than anything else I did green makeup and drew pickles in makeup on my face and hand to go with my green shirt and bandana. Beautiful 🥰a

We've had a lot of fun, done a couple of experiments, and even a good sulk, but we now have marmalade, pickled cucumbers, fermented cucumbers & habaneros, habanero & plum salsa, Persian fermented veggies, and jalapeño & potatoes! Good old stock up for the apocalypse! 😆🥒🍋🍊🥕🧂🍯🥫
