I was really feeling myself after my T shot yesterday
For the scary movie watch list: What do you think of these movies from this year?
4, 24, 30, 41, 46, 54, 64, 70, and 72!
(I had to ask about Prometheus, it's one of the movies I like that everyone hates lol! Don't let that influence your opinion, I want to know what you think!)
Ooh a bunch! This is gonna get long bc I love to Yap. Let's see:
4. Final Destination Bloodlines
This one was a fun and painful watch (some of those kills were BRUTAL) but it really adds fuel to my theory that Death in these movies is some sort of Entity with a sick sense of humor and a compulsion to send premonitions to some of its victims. Every kill in this series is an elaborate murder via an unseen hand.
24. The Wicker Man (1973)
This one was really good, even if I did already know the basic story of it and the big reveal at the end going in. The mystery was still solid though! Also, when you're watching an old movie like this you have to take into account like, the culture of the time period in came out in, so of course they were going to find paganism and casual nudity shocking and horrifying. Ps Christopher Lee my beloved <3
30. Prometheus
I actually really liked it! I love stories about androids/synthetic humanoids who break out of their expected behavior patterns and start following their own agendas, whether good or bad. LOVED the part where they met God and he went 'ew wtf is that'. Really great cast too!
41.Nightbitch
SO GOOD. Now, I'm not a parent except to two cats, nor do I want to be, but I do know loneliness and I do know the feeling of having to manage everything on your own. I love the character growth of Amy Adams' character and I was relieved that her husband made the right choice, too. Loved that she found connection with people she thought she would never connect to!!! My one big complaint with this movie is: Why did they have a pet that they hated. Rehome that thang.
46. Tales From the Hood
Anthology horror my BELOVED!!! The social and political commentary on this one is unfortunately still so incredibly relevant that it still hits pretty hard today. It was very satisfying to watch the various shitty people get their comeuppance. LOVED the Mortician and how easily he ensnared those dudes with his stories.
54. The Babysitter: Killer Queen
Emily Alyn Lind (Melanie) did SUCH a good job emulating Samara Weaving's (Bee) mannerisms and body language that for almost the entire movie I was CONVINCED that Bee was possessing her. Also for some reason I also thought at first that Jenna Ortega's character was gonna be the twist villain but I like that she wasn't. It's a fun, silly movie that knows what it is and owns it.
64. V/H/S Halloween
FUN SIIIIIIZE ok so as with pretty much all the V/H/S movies, there are some enjoyable segments and some weaker ones. I wasn't super invested into the Story that was going on between the segments especially since it had nothing to do with the segments themselves. In previous ones, the characters themselves were watching the segments, but in this one there's nothing connecting the whole thing together except they're all on Halloween. LOVED the 'haunt is real now' and the 'reenacting the worst night of my life for the cops' bits, and the 'kidprint' one was so devastating. (Also there's a review for this movie on Letterboxd that just says "More like V/H/S Fuck Them Kids" and yeah that about sums it up.)
70. The Others
Oh MAN what a good movie. As a big big fan of ghost stories this one was right up my alley. The way it sets up for one expected outcome only to yank the rug out from under your feet was so well done and also sooooo sad. The reveals kept coming and they dont stop coming and they don't stop coming and they dont- Also Christopher Eccleston with hair jumpscare.
72. Bring Her Back
With as few spoilers as possible since it's still pretty new- I clocked that manipulation so fast I was sitting there going I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING BUT NOT WHY. BUT I SEE YOU. And then when the pieces started falling into place I was just stunned. Grief is a powerful force that can drive people to commit acts they would otherwise have never considered. Grapefruit.
Thank you so much for the ask! :D
Do you like reptiles? If so, what is your favorite reptile?
