The Pickle and the Turtle
Once upon a time there was a pickle who fell in love with a turtle and it's glimmering emerald green shell. Everyday the pickle would come out and admire the turtle in it's beauty from afar. But one day there was a food shortage. Every day the food dwindled and dwindled and the turtle's glimmering shell became duller and duller until it was a muggy swamp green. But even so the pickle loved that turtle. Then a day came where the turtle, who had gone days without eating, collapsed. The pickle approached the turtle with worry. As the pickle came closer to the turtle it fell even more in love, for it had never been so close to the turtle, and the happiness that filled the pickle was immense. And upon closer inspection of seeing the turtle's life coming close to an end, the pickle had come to a decision. "Beautiful turtle," the pickle said, "Please eat me so that you may live. I had admired you from afar for so long and being near you now has brought me much happiness. Before you I was a mere pickle, wondering alone, purposeless. But now I have fallen for you and I hope for you too live. Please eat me." The turtle stared at the pickle and considered its words. Then with a nod the turtle ate the pickle. The turtle's shell gleamed even more beautiful than before and the turtle regained its strength. The turtle continued to live long and healthy and was always grateful to the mysterious pickle who had saved it that one day.
