@theocxcanonweek day 6; An Intimate Moment & day 7: Date Night
To Drift’s surprise, as soon as Jamie could get out of bed without feeling dizzy, she told him she wants to do a date night. Aware she’s still sick and unable to go out. Drift is aware that Jamie’s ability to get out of bed and eat is temporary. He tells her to stay in bed for the day to rest.
Drift tells Cogman what Jamie wants to do. Jamie said nothing about a specific dinner or insisted on talking to Cogman herself, the two mechs decide to make one of Jamie’s favorites. Drift makes one of Jamie’s favorites for breakfast.
Drift knew Jamie’s nose would still be an issue as he walks into the bedroom. It’s not as bad as it has been. Jamie walks out of the bathroom and sits on the couch. “Though not the best while still sick, I made pancakes and bacon with a little syrup and of course, tea.” Drift puts the tray on the coffee table and sits next to Jamie. He turns on the TV. The two watch TV as they eat.
After breakfast, Drift suggests Jamie take a shower to help with her sinuses. Not mentioning how she could use a shower. He looks out the glass sliding door, wanting to watch the sunset with Jamie out on the field tonight. Maybe she’ll be ok if I carry her. Drift thinks. He’d ask Jamie first in case she needs to rest before dinner. He has been enjoying the frequency of these dates.
Drift asks Jamie if she wants to watch the sunset with her on the field. She smiles at the idea. Drift goes to work out in the home gym. Jamie protests at Drift for telling her she can’t join him. “You’re still sick,” Drift argues, “you still need to rest.”
While Jamie is resting, Drift does a workout, showers, and talks to Cogman. The silver mech is happy to help the two regardless of the plan. He changes the dinner plan to align with Drift’s idea. He enjoys seeing Drift’s smile as they talk about the plan.
The morning is lazy, with Jamie resting. They have the remainder of the soup Drift made for lunch. “I think I’m sick of soup for a while,” Jamie comments. Drift laughs, “I figured. You’ve eaten soup for four days.” Jamie tells Drift she wants to sit in the hot tub after lunch.
Jamie sits on Drift’s lap, resting her head on his shirtless chest as they sit in the hot tub. He has an arm around her and the two relax. They stay in the hot tub for forty minutes. Jamie is half asleep when the timer on Drift's phone goes off. He’s careful about carrying her out of the tub and drying her. Wrapping her in the full-body towel and lying her on a lounge chair to dry himself. Jamie is asleep when he’s done. He lets her nap. Thinking it’s good Jamie wears shorts and a T-shirt over her bathing suit. Drift carries Jamie back to the bedroom.
Once Jamie is dry, Drift lies her on the bed and covers her with the extra blanket on the bed. He gets dressed and grabs his phone, Rather than go downstairs, Drift finds a book to read on his phone.
Jamie slept until two-thirty. With four hours until dinner, she gets a snack. “We could go to the game room,” Drift suggests, “not for four hours, but it’s better than watching TV for four hours.”
Drift enjoys watching Jamie play the game. Wishing Jamie was playing the game with other friends so he could watch longer than when it was her turn. He still enjoys playing the game with her. The game lasts forty minutes and Jamie wants to play again. Drift is thinking they’ll be playing pool until they need to head to the field to catch the sunset. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Drift is enjoying spending time with Jamie.
Drift was right about playing pool until this date plans. They both grab their boots from their room and head down to the kitchen. Jamie finds out Drift planned for the two to watch the sunset. Cogman prepared their dinner and packed it in an insulated lunchbox. He hands Drift a large lunchbox and a beach blanket. Drift puts the items in his subspace. Even with the three and a half hours playing pool, Jamie says she’s fine. He takes her hand and they walk to the field.
After a brief walk on the grass, Drift and Jamie pick a spot to set up. Drift places the beach blanket on the grass and takes out both the lunchbox and a wedge pillow. Jamie doesn’t question the choice of pillow. The two sit on the blanket. Drift discovers Cogman prepared individual plates for the two. Jamie smiles seeing dinner is small chicken cutlets and french fries. Melted cheese covers both the chicken and fries. “No utensils needed,” Drift remarks, “but the absence of vegetables is not ideal.” “It’s not a problem,” Jamie protests. The sunset begins as the two eat. They still find the sunset beautiful to watch. The two finish their dinner and put their plates in the lunchbox. Drift lies down, using the wedge pillow. He pulls Jamie onto him. Both can enjoy the sunset in comfort. Since Jamie is still sick, he kisses her forehead rather than her lips. The lunchbox is in Drift’s reach. He grabs two cookies and gives one to Jamie. They enjoy a little twilight before deciding it’s time to go back into the house. “That was nice,” Drift says as he packs up. Jamie says nothing. Drift looks at her and can tell she’s not feeling good, “overdid it today.” Jamie doesn’t argue. Drift picks Jamie up and carries her back to the house.
He takes her to the bedroom. Both prepare for bed, but Jamie refuses to lie down despite feeling tired. The two go to the living room to watch TV until Jamie falls asleep. The day and evening were the complete date for Drift, bringing him enjoyment. He enjoys time with the femme he loves, even with the challenges.
