When I wrote A Piece of the Sky and Patched Up Satin, I had no intention of including nonbinary Roman in the Pieces verse

and then, once i'd realized Roman was nonbinary even if i hadnt done it intentionally at first, i wasn't planning on writing anything about it until after i'd written the dukeceit

But it felt disingenuous, to continue writing as if Roman was a cis man when I now knew they weren't

So i wrote Scatter Me Gentle and posted it even though i was Very Much Not looking forward to having to write any amount of Remus's POV of a not-out Roman, which would necessitate a lot of narrative misgendering, but in the end it made me feel less bad to acknowledge that the misgendering was happening and properly warn for it than to simply not tell the audience what was going on

first of all, a lot of their problems are coming from the fact theyre in the wrong top/bottom configuration. Percy has significant erectile dysfunction and doesnt like to top, dess has vaginismus and doesnt like to be penetrated, and someone needs to get this woman a strap post haste

I've been rotating Percy Bullard recently. His combination of neurotic and repression has to only mean good things for Dessa. More of a secret freak then Logan, I'd put money on it

okay so this is actually sooooo fraught because uh. the thing is. niether percy nor dessa had any more sex education than the fitzboys, and observation of janus and remus is the first time theyre sort of presented with the idea that Sex And Physical Contact With Spouse can be like. good.

so like until Sewing Tears, sex is deeply unpleasant for dessa, and percy yknow isnt a monster, so he doesnt really like it any better. a solid third of the time they just give up part way through, the situation is that dire. it doesnt even occur to them to try anything else because they dont know there is anything else to try

Janus (who taught himself most of his sex ed when he figured out he was queer, from those circles, so its more comprehensive than most) obviously doesnt know this or he would correct it immediately and the plan is for the fic to actually start off as Janus and Percy bonding an percy clumsily being like "i would never dream of asking you this if you were still my sister and not my brother but What Do I Do"

so a horrified janus gives them a crash course and THEN it turns out that one of the biggest reasons theyre struggling is because Percy's a bottom and Dessa a top. so it gets fixed pretty quick once they jump that hurdle and that is The Only Reason Nessa and Billy don't have more siblings because they jumped it well

What inspired the Perdessa dynamic was a single vivid picture in my mind of Percy sitting on a couch and Dessa tugging his head back to kiss him from above and the man just melts. He deserves for his hot wife to Domme him into incoherence

i want more pieces logicality bondage. probably logan prefers to have patton tied up anytime he's domming for a good long while, so they go through a lot of variations.
