How do you get rid of piercing bumps?

JKHSDA bestie i wish i knew 😭

i have been struggling, and i mean STRUGGLING, to get rid of the ones on my snug that i've had since january. and now my vertical helix has one as well

i've heard many different methods to getting rid of them:

saline spray or warm salt water (i've been told in the ratio of 1 cup of water to 1/4 teaspoon of uniodized salt)

unscented hand soap (i have not been able to find a single hand soap that is unscented though)

teatree oil (but very diluted, like 2-3 drops in a shot glass worth of water)

crushed asprin (this i've never personally tried)

i recommend asking your piercer. also ask different piercers because i've asked different ones and one will tell me to do one thing and the other will say don't do that. so maybe asking multiple can help come to a consensus? i also recommend going on youtube and watching reputable piercers who make content.

if anyone else has advice feel free to share because hell i'll take it too 😭

ew, I don’t like this new format for sending asks in :-/ anyway, you could have a keloid! i don’t think they’re very easy to fix sadly but I think there’s some things you can try like changing the jewellery and making sure you clean it properly. my dads girlfriend said that when she had one she wasn’t able to fix it so she just had to take the piercing out and let it heal... sorry this isn’t much help.

I picked at it this morning (which I probably shouldn’t have done, but my anxiety is like “TOUCH IT!! POKE IT!! RID OF IT!!” And it does that to everything 😭) and it kinda came apart?

I only got this pierced in July, so it probably has a lot of healing to do, and I looked at my sister’s one, and it had the same bump. When my mum gets home (cause she got one too!), we’re going to see if hers has one, and maybe try some salt water on them.

I put PRID drawing salve on the little bumps on my daith and industrial piercings and it took them away over night. Highly recommend

Advice on how to get rid of piercing bumps?

Don't touch or rotate the jewelry

Use the appropriate style of well-fitting jewelry (not too short, not too long)

Use a less irritating style of jewelry (straight as opposed to curved/circular, where possible)

Upgrade to a higher quality metal (examples include niobium and implant-grade titanium)

Clean ONLY with saline solution (no peroxide, alcohol, harsh soaps)

Helix piercing not healing well

Sad. I got my helix pierced last year and have had bumps on it after about a month in. It's so frustrating and I almost want to just give up and take out the piercing, but I don't know if the bumps would even go away after I do that. I went to my piercer a while back and they said to just keep up the salt soaks, but it's been so long and it doesn't seem to help much at all. Any ideas? Should I just take it out?

I have FINALLY managed to shrink my piercing bumps! Thank goodness! All it took was some crushed up aspirin and water! I mixed the aspirin with the water to form a paste, spread some of the mixture on my bumps, put a bandaid over the suckers, and wa la!
