Darkness Into Light
In Ireland there is still a HUGE stigma surrounding mental health, something that is changing ever so slowly. Despite this glacial change, access to mental health facilities is almost impossible and funding is dismal. In my own personal experience I got no help whatsoever from my GP who told me to go find a counselling service, and when I told him I would not be able to afford one, he told me they might ‘do a deal’ with me, which is useless tbh. I’ve seen friends and family try to get help with little to no results. The only real mental health services in Ireland that care are charities like Pieta House. Unfortunately it’s difficult to keep up with the volume of people that need help from them, and waiting times can be long. In order to tackle this problem they need continued help from everyday people so that they can continue to do their incredible work. This Saturday I’m taking part in the Darkness Into Light campaign to raise funds and awareness.
I am begging of you, if you can, please please PLEASE donate whatever you can, a few cents even. It will do so much to help such an amazing organisation, and you could make the difference in somebody’s life.
