The hardy and tough residents of the Nether, the piglins! Leading a no-doubt rough life, the piglins are distrustful of players, and will attack them if they come near, but will be placated by those wearing at least one piece of gold gear. Valuing gold as they do, piglins will happily take gold ingots and give the player various items in return, some of which are quite useful!
But while regular piglins (left) can be calmed by gold and will barter, the piglin brute (right) cares not, and will be hostile regardless. But as these powerful warriors can only be found guarding bastions, it can be assumed they take their job very seriously and cannot be bribed. So enter at your own peril.
Fun fact, whenever piglins have a successful hunt, they do a victory dance together!
