For mother’s day, he’d done exactly what he thought Misty would appreciate the most. At 5:45 AM, just before the time Lucy normally woke up, he dragged himself out of bed, showered, was up to give her a banana and some Cheerios before getting her dressed, as quietly as possible, then brought her by so they could both give Mommy a quick goodbye kiss before heading out the door, just after 7:15 AM.
The card he left had a picture of a big cartoon giraffe bending over a baby giraffe and a simple ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ message on the inside with a note:
Sleep in. We’ll be back with waffles around 9. Text me if you need anything.
I love you, baby. Thank you for being the best mother to our daughter.
