I hope you'll forgive me, but these came to me in an almost delirious state the other morning when my brain wouldn’t let me sleep :s

I give you the sleuths now in the flesh. 

Can’t forget the bossman either: 

“This time you bruise and bleed too, angel eyes” >;) 

Just a fun little ‘what-if’ and obviously not cannon, unless the Vigilante encounters these guys in some fever dream - actually that sounds like a funny scenario; nearly dying of some wounds (the usual) and high on meds, their mind cooks up this little world and once it gets to the Eclipse part, they’re just so repelled they wake themselves from their delirium xD

I did these in quite a hurry so if I were to ever have another go, I’d probably make some adjustments, focus on a more unique design, age them up a little, and give them more likeness to their animatronic counterparts, but hey, still works as a proof of concept I guess :)

Forgive you??? I would only forgive you for making me fall in love! I am not normal about your human designs for the Sleuth Jester boys at all!!! I hope you know that! I adore them so much ahhh! They're everything to me and so cute and handsome and their eyes and the details of their faces eeee!!! I'm kicking my legs and laying on my bed like a middle school girl rn, you have no idea!

Oh. Ohhh and that Eclipse! Bossman indeed, whew! He should not look that good smoking a cigar; yet, I'm swooning! He looks so menacing even in human form! Guess some things never change, huh?

I have to say, I'm more inclined to the DCA as robots but your human designs are making me into a turncoat right now! The idea that the human boys are from a fever dream is perfect and Y/N waking themselves up because, ew, what is Eclipse doing here? Has me cackling!

Hope it’s still oke to throw in song recommendations ^^’ Buuut these past couple days Infinite Skin (by Blaqk) has had a few loops in my playlists and I couldn't help but think of MBClip (or BHClip) and Vigilante, especially remembering the lovely phase of “owing a pound of flesh”, was it? 

Speaking of, why not share: I did this rough thing just after ‘Under the Storm’ came out, and only briefly got back to it to make it ‘presentable’, kinda :x so here..

Oh, this is a banger! I love the vibe and the lyrics—I feel that both the vigilante and Eclipse (MB or BH) are telling the other about the deadly games they play and the blood owed. The infinite skin. They both have their goals, and someone has to give in or bow out, and it's a struggle, regardless.

Definitely fits with 'owing a pound of flesh' and I love to picture this as the ending credit song for "Under The Storm" ♥

I had a little query pop to mind recently if that's okay:  what if reader in the Deep Dreams universe had megalophobia and/or perhaps even thalassophobia? 

I know this might make less sense for fisher Y/N as we know them, so it could hypothetically be some other person, a friend or a future Y/N who makes friends with juvenile Sun and Moon and then only later discovers they've grown to be big sea beasties - maybe seeing them in their dreams is fine but for real it's a different matter, at least until they get used to them :)

How might the boys react?

Having a slight bit of megalophobia myself, the best way I can describe my experience is a gentle anxiety with the need to seek shelter and cower there, but people's experiences can vary (and possibly change depending on the conditions). Also that kinda makes it 10x funnier that I have an affinity for giant creatures xD

Oh ho! Fear of big things and of large bodies of water? I'm sure that totally wouldn't be a source of great fear and conflict with a poor little reader soulbond to a couple of mers hehe (The Sea Beast is an excellent movie btw!! ♥)

Y/N with megalophobia and thalassophobia wouldn't be caught dead on the ocean. You have dreams about two massive mers, and those creatures are always sweet and gentle and attentive, but you're still convinced it's some weird nightmare (even though no real spooky events unfold in said dreams). The mers coax and plead with you to go out to sea so you can all meet, but that's a solid no from you.

Then through a very terrible chance of fate, you're on a boat for whatever reason but very much against your desires, before you get swept away by a rouge wave and left behind. You're alone, struggling to swim in a massive ocean when—oh goodie, that looks like a giant mer floating right below you. What else could go wrong today?

Needless to say, after seeing Moon, then Sun, and realizing that these massive mers you've had dreams about are here in the flesh, you pass out from sheer fright. It's a lot for you to wrap your brain around, but when you come to, you're on Sun's back as he floats gently along the surface, keeping you dry as you begin losing your mind out of the horror of it all while Moon watches you from close by. You can't jump into the great wide ocean to escape the mer carrying you but you can't stay on the thing's scaly back either, so you may have a panic attack. Sun stops and turns his head back to give you his full attention while Moon tries to take you in his hands but that does not help your situation. They can feel your panic and horror, but you can feel confusion and distress at not being able to help, and in fact, them being the cause of your fear.

Their attempts to calm you down are met with resistance as you want to be anywhere but here in the ocean with two giant mers.

Sun and Moon are bewildered and upset, to say the least. You did often seem nervous in your little dream rendezvous but they thought they did a lovely job of reassuring you it was alright and that they would never hurt you and there's nothing to be scared of. Turns out, not quite. So, they take you safely back to the island shore where you more or less escape from the massive monsters and flee inland. But, there's not a whole lot of places to go on the little island and you've got to sleep eventually, so Sun and Moon decide to spend more personal time with you and show you that really, they're the two baby mers you happened to scoop up one summer day when you were just a tot and didn't realize how scary some things could be.

They'll be patient. You'll see that there is no place safer than with them in the water. They'll help you face your fears and then reunite with you.

If you ever leave your house again, that is.

How okay are you with cusses? Cuz I came across this post of old hollywood bloopers and since the Detective AU/Sleuth Jesters takes some inspiration from film noir (at least I thought it did?), my mind immediately wandered in that direction. They do cuss a bit tho but there’s something funny and sincere about old-timey people just being people and dropping the perceived propriety by swearing. here's more if that's alright

Also in the very hypothetical case of SJ being a film noir production, I’d think it cute to image Eclipse, who plays the nastiest of nasties, actually being super kind and sweet irl (and constantly bumping his head cuz he’s just too tall lol). Sun and Moon may be more laid back or more like their SB selves perhaps? just goofy and having fun. But ignore that if actor au type stuff isn’t your cuppa tea ^^’ I do prefer SJ as is in its fictive context. Just thought it a funny set of clips to share :)

I'm okay with reading/hearing curses, I just don't like to write too much of them! And yes, Sleuth Jesters is very inspired by film noir! I love gag reels and bloopers, they're so funny!

AHHH AN ACTOR AU WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN! I wouldn't write a full fledge story but it's really exciting to think about ♥ (psst @luminitewrites I think you mentioned an actor sleuth jesters AU a while ago? but if not then feel free to ignore!)

Oh gosh, Eclipse just being a real sweetheart (hehe)! He gives me vibes of this one interview with an actor who was asked about people who idolized the very evil and morally messed up character he played and he just bluntly says: that's wrong and you should probably get therapy if you do. (I can't remember who exactly was the actor/quote but if I do, I'll put it here lol)

Sun and Moon would be their Security Breach selves. They're fun behind the scenes just as much as they are while in character!

I also think about the boys knowing their lines perfectly, because, animatronics, so Y/N would be the one who curses and apologizes whenever they forget a line. However! Y/N is the best at improv and delivering great, unexpected lines that enrich the scene/dialogue! Of course, that's not to say the boys wouldn't have their share of flukes with missing cues or messing up an action scene, or keeping up with Y/N when they do some improv.

I'm going to put a few of my favorites from the bloopers here as the boys and Y/N if you don't mind hehe (sidenote: I love how often they shout nuts lol):

Sun: Let me do it again, right now! Keep rolling!

Moon: Well, I can't work around here! *camera follows Moon as he walks away* Oh, you're following me. Oh. I didn't know that.

*Y/N and Sun kissing for a scene*

Y/N: *leaning back in Sun's arms* What was it? What was the... *forgets line* Sonuva—

Sun: *chuckles* Language.

Y/N: Oh, I'm fine. You've been getting any lately? *misses a keyword*

Moon: *grinning* Overtime, you mean?

Y/N: *laughs bashfully and blushes as they turn away*

Sun: Geez, these city women are... *realizes he's delivering it wrong* Nuts.

Y/N: *smiling* Well, I don't think so.

Director: *during a scene where the actors are standing in water and are wet* Don't pull your hair back!

Y/N: Well, I gotta see, if you don't mind!

Moon: *chuckles*

Y/N: *hat falls off during a scene*

Eclipse: *hurries to pick it up and put it back on them*

Eclipse: *trying to light his cigar but fails repeatedly in frustration* My match won't strike.

Y/N: *collapses against Eclipse in a dramatic scene* Help me... *tries to lift their head but realizes their hair is stuck* Help me, please, help me. *laughs* I'm caught on his button!

Eclipse: *laughs as he frees them*

In light of the last Cryptid Sightings chapter- Super cute btw!!✨ I love the interaction with the kids, especially Phoebe aaahhhh baby!! and Moon comforting her, my heart! <3 also 'no monster will hurt you cause we're the scariest one out there' very Monster Underneath Your Bed of you, Moon ;) and oh, the doppelgänger, I smell some angst brewin’ hehe -back to what I was gonna say xD, I don’t exactly know what you’ve got planned for Mothman, if anything beyond the pjs gag, but if Y/N were to go after them, I hope you don't mind me making a case for the critter with my personal interpretation and old art from some years ago:

Look at him, would Y/N really hurt this boy? He’s just got a severe case of ‘wrong place, wrong time’. The most criminal thing he’d ever do is steal your lamps, flashlights and batteries to power them cuz moth drawn to light lol. And if he were to ever encounter cryptid Sun&Moon he’d do a frighten and scoot!

I jest of course! Personal interpretation is personal interpretation. But that aside, I’ll just say again how I’m really enjoying Cryptid Sightings! Thematically hits a nice curiosity of mine for creatures and the creepy and uncanny. Plus the dangerous beast that is Sun&Moon is a protector of children! Gah! I love it!

Wherever you take us with the story and it’s characters and creatures, I’m down for the ride! :D Have a nice day/night! <3
