Piakchu Special thing.

Now I would get with the summaries, but before I have to deal with this.

The US version of version didn’t air the Pikachu Special, with its exactly this “ Pikachu Becomes a Star!? Its Movie Debut!! / How to Pikachu the Movie! Ready! Action!! / The Thunderclap Hero! Super Pikachu!! / Pikachu's Thrilling Blooper Awards”. The dub not airing this episode kinda confirms that this is an special and not an standard episode.

Hpwever, Adamant is sure that this is an episode and even claims that it was a mistranslation of this article.

The thing is... this article is a mess but doesn’t mean the Pikachu Special is a standard episode.

This is what happened:

On June 18th 2015, TV Tokyo aired a 1-hour special named “Pikachu the Movie”. The special contains:

-The  Sky Relay episode, which is an standard episode, just being in a special. this episode have its dub aired in countries that reached this episode.

-The Pikachu movie episode, who has never been dubbed.

the thing is... the Pikachu movie specials looks like an special episode of XY designed to promote Cosplay Pikachu. Even though it looks like a normal episode...

It has 4 titles, thing that no other episode does. Also, the episode titles are distributed very differently from an standard episode. And unlike XY14, it’s not just a different background in the title  card (XY14 had 1 title card with an special background that lasted a similar time than any title card). 

And how other Japanese airdates. So far, we know...

-The episode aired on Hulu and was released on DVD as a standard episode; however, note that the Mega Evolution Specials air on those media. Also, other Japanese local channels where the network of TV Tokyo don’t reach supposedly (I can’t verify this) aired the episode.

-We don’t know about reruns of this episode. Probably it hasn’t happened yet.

What IS the Pikachu movie episode? Apparently a Special XY epsiode designed to promote Cosplay Pikachu.

What’s correct: Name it as “XY078″ and follow “XY079 afterwards” (Serebii, PM) and named it as a special (Bulbagarden, Filb)?

The things is both are “right”. Technically, is better to aisgn the code XY078  as “Piakchu movie special episode” if there was doubt at the time of Japanese airing. Like DP120 exists both at Serebii and Bulbagarden and we know it isn’t an standard episode (ist was a clip show (and the last episode that aired on 4:3, the dub obviously didn’t air this).

Status of the Pikachu movie special.

This is based on the response of Janovy from Serebii. I have decided to do this: -Starting now, and to avoid confusion, I consider that the Pokeball Factory episode is XY079, the Tripokalon is XY80 and that factor is extended to all the other episodes. About the Pikachu Special: -If the dub airs in its correct order, it would be named XY078. -If the dubs doesn't air this episode or airs in a special way, it would be named XY078A. -If it's found that reruns of the Japanese version don't air this episode, it would lose the XY078 number.

About what Adamant has said about the Pikachu special.

I think the Pikachu special are an special episode lile Bulbapedia, Filb and the raw provider suggest. Reason: Four titles in a episode, no Pokemon Quiz. Adamant said that this is an episode and compares this episode to XY14 who had a different title. The thing is that episode only have one title, the title card lasted like an standard episode and have a Pokemon Quiz segment. Even though it last like a standard episode and has the usual XY cast, ot's structure is sp different that I dpn't consider it a normal episode and I consider a special episode (XY special 4).

Piakchu special (and more)

First, I really enjoyed the Pikachu special.

I want to talk about the status of the Pikachu special.

I have watched the Pikachu special and for now I don’t consider it an standard episode. Why? Because even though the episode last the usual time that a normal episode does (a bit more than 20 minutes)*  it’s so structured so different than the rest of episodes that I consider this episode a XY Special and not an XY episode.

But Ash and its companions are on it? Yeah, but this thing alone doesn’t confirm it’s an standard episode. The episode is divided in 4 parts (things that an standard episode doesn’t), it doesn’t have a proper title card (a standard episode (including XY14) has a title card of around 9 seconds) and there’s no Pokemon Quiz segment, unlike a standard episode.

*Not including Opening, Ending, Preview, Sponsors, Get TV mini-preview and Oak’s segment.

And about the movie, I wonder why nobody (not even Dephender) has informed of the movie news. Even though it’s not a big deal, we know (and I don’t know the language).

-That Hoopa Unbound doesn’t properly talk in the movie.

-A few scenes from the movie.

-Various curiosities that I’m sure  PM’s staff loves discussing them. Including Koichi’s shocks.
