I've seen people talk about the hilarity of Dedra being introduced to Syril's mother, and I raise you: Syril meeting Dedra's parent(s) and their personalities somehow explain everything that is vaguely unhinged about Dedra. Like, her home life making Syril's home life look pleasant and emotionally well-adjusted.
RIGHT. On one hand, my headcanon is Dedra had a very brutal upbringing in the outer-rim and most of her family died long ago.
On the other hand I have visions of her stern, authoritarian, single-handedly-drove-the-hutts-out-of-our-system-with-the-most-violent-means-necessary father arriving on Coruscant to visit his little girl and her new boyfriend for Empire Day 🥰
