More from the Pelerínage :)
June 15th
Rest day. It's far less relaxing than I thought it would be. You see, I've been sitting on the patio reading Hemingway all day, absolutely ITCHING to be back on the road. I miss walking. Its so soothing (is there such a thing as endorphin withdrawal? I think I'm suffering from it). I've also been beseiged by bed bugs in a hostel in Hospital de Orbigo. I'm itchy everywhere and it's making me abosolutely crabby. Everyone who knows me knows how I fear the creepy crawlies, so sleeping with them is certainly my worst nightmare. I met a sweet american girl named Mary from Colorado, who shared her pasta and stories of her volunteer work in quite possibly the softest, most relaxing voice I've every heard. Shared a room with a very, er, interesting Dutchman with two chipmunks, possibly Alvin and maybe Chip n Dale, on his butt (modesty is rare in spanish hostels). The other pilgrams are so diverse, I barely even knew so many countries and dialects could possibly be rammed inot 24 bunkbeds. Tomorrow I'll get over my funk, and maybe find some more clarity with the fresh mountin air. Untill then,
Buen Camino,
Kat
“Still, I couldn't help but wonder if it was a mistake for people like us to be tied to a place. If we weren't meant to be ready and willing to wander. If everything we needed was contained in who we were. And what we remember.” ― Alice Hoffman, Incantation
