Great Western Main Line (GWML) electrification A spoil train at Pilning Station, looking west; the Severn tunnel can just be seen in the background on the right, the “new” Severn Bridge more obviously on the left. This train receives the spoil from the pile installations between Patchway Tunnels and Severn Tunnel. (Mark Clothier - via Flickr:)
Pilning South Gloucestershire by Jeremy Segrott Via Flickr: A Great Western Railway high speed train (HST) is seen working the 1L34 0744 Port Talbot Parkway to London Paddington service. The HST is approaching Pilning station having climbed the incline from the Severn Tunnel. Forty years after they were introduced on the Western Region of British Rail, the HSTs still make a striking sight, and look as modern now as they did in the 1970s.
The Snow hit the UK on Friday 18th January and how beautiful that blanket of snow looked in my home village.
