They let Luna die, they always hurt Raven so unbelievably much. And just in time when she actually is smiling again. They take this freaking pilot from her?! I am hella upset.

5. Memoraven

Definitely one of my favourite trios on the show and I would’ve loved to see more scenes of them together. The reason their only number five is because I couldn’t really see them working out as a couple since we all know Murphy would focus to much on Emori and then get jealous of Raven and Emori especially considering that’s actually what part of what broke him and Emori up on the ring. Not blaming Raven for that of course!

4. Wickaven

I did like Wick and Raven together especially considering how much they had in common but I really don’t think they would’ve lasted if the actor suck around considering how much they were fighting already for being in what should’ve been the “honeymoon phase”.

3. Murven

To be honest I was totally a murven shipper at first but the more I think about it the more they would’ve been toxic as hell if they were an actual couple. Also I love the brother/sister bond they have. I thought they might have been considering making murven canon in season five when Emori and Murphy were broken up but looking back I’m glad they didn’t do that because it would’ve ruined memori and Raven and Emori’s friendship.

2. Pilot Mechanic

Shaw I feel like understood Raven so well and I love that his last words were that Raven deserved happiness even though she didn’t think she did. The writers could’ve done so much more with them and honestly I think the only reason he wasn’t around longer is so that they could give Ryker and Raven a little storyline because imagine if Raven and Shaw would’ve got their endgame on the beach.

1. Sea Mechanic

One of my all time favourite ships on the show and I can’t even explain how badly I wanted this. I would’ve loved for Luna to go up into space with them but I understand it would’ve been really hard to do something with her character in season five, even if they killed her off immediately but then again they’d have to give her time to mourn before they could go ahead with the pilot mechanic storyline. The chemistry they had in Becca’s lab was impossible to ignore and Nadia who plays Luna even confirmed that Luna was in love with Raven.

Writing this Zaven fic breaks my heart... Giving Shaw the backstory he deserved and I hate to say I love the way the story goes, so tragic yet beautiful in the end.

He’s a little older on this Earth, or whichever he came from. 

Same eyes, same jawline. 

A little more filled out, or maybe she just will always think of Zeke as the slip of a kid she met the first week of ROTC.

“Miles,” she says, using the name the kid used, a reminder. “Good to see you.”

He looks at her, scanning her face, his expression calculating. “So I’m dead there, too?”

Raven nods.

He must notice it, her clenched fists, the way she’s pretending she’s not seeing a ghost; his eyes soften. 

“Sorry. Were we close?”

(Until he took a serum and she broke his neck because she didn’t know).

“Um, yeah,” Raven says. “Not in yours?”

He shakes his head. “Not close to much of anyone these days.”

Raven tilts her head. “How long have you been doing this?”

“Something like a decade.” Miles looks up at the top of the trees. “Yeah, guess it has been that long. Stopped counting, you know...What’s your name?”

Of course he doesn’t know it.

It’s not his fault, but it still stings. The universe gives her back her best friend for him to not know her, to be older and colder and to not know her. 

And then kills another version of him, just for fun. 

“Raven Reyes,” she says, voice clipped. “We’d better get going before Doc Ock wakes up.”

ugh the ruined potential of Zaven makes me so mad!!!!

how many times is a character or storyline going to be radically altered by the actor leaving behind-the-scenes?

they were so clearly building Zaven up in s5 to be this epic, permanent thing for Raven - and then, out of nowhere, it gets snatched away from her, like everything and everyone else she’s ever loved.

it’s not just about wanting better for a fictional character who is endlessly shit on by the narrative and other characters. it’s not even just about all the gross social implications behind killing off yet another black man, even though those things are important.

it’s about how good Zaven was, how clearly they were meant to be soulmate status, how we were so close to getting to see Raven with a stable, loving, equally amazing partner -

- and then he gets written off in what is probably the most slapdash and hamfisted death of the entire series!!!

I’m still! so! angry!!!
