something about casual nonbinary representation: when i was listening to promised land (the penumbra podcast), i got about more than halfway through the story before i realized that they were referring to mayor peyrera as "mx. peyrera" and using they/them pronouns. i was absolutely ecstatic when i realized this, but i was confused as to how i, a nonbinary person begging for representation, didn't catch it before. then i realized that it's because it was used so casually. it wasn't a big deal, there was no coming out, no dramatic introductions to cis people who need it explained to them. everyone just referred to them with they/them pronouns, no questions, no stuttering, and it felt so natural. it's just amazing and tells to what media could be like with representation applied correctly. it was just a really cool moment.
