To The Past
Ionia - Lunar Revel - One Year Ago
“...Even amidst war, the people of Ionia find time to celebrate. Moonlight bathed the people beneath the starry sky, along with lanterns hanging from strings carefully placed among the busy gardens...”
“There was always something about the smell of the food coming from the stalls and the entrancing rythim of the Taiko drums. Nights like that never failed to make me feel happy - or at least by the time, the closest I could get to happiness... and that one night, I decided to approach a small village to the northeast. A simple place that seemed not to have been affected by the Noxian invasion yet... people over there carried on with their lives and celebrated. What would I not give to be able to walk among them... to remember what once felt like to talk to someone without concern... to only look back to greet a warm smile, instead of cold daggers...”
“...But I knew that was not my place anymore... and so I chose to watch from afar, close to some trees behind some of the village’s abodes... I did not know how long I would be able to stay unnoticed... news from my past actions probably hadn’t reached these people, but wherever people gathered, patrols would certainly appear - specially since the Revel always lured strangers within the island. It was always curious to see the different faces dressed in traditional Ionian garb.”
“As I watched, I wondered if there would be a soul to keep me company that night as I stood apart from the crowd... thoughts crossed my mind as the sights brought back memories I always held close to my heart.”
“...Brother...”
‘Brother! I can’t best you in a sword fight yet--- but I can certainly kick your ass in one of those games! Come on! Pick one!’
‘Oh, is that so brother? Alright, but let’s eat something first... then I can gladly beat you in one of the games. You didn’t eat anything ever since we left school. I know you take your training seriously bu---’
‘Bah! Your sermons are boring. I want to become the best swordsman! Even better than you!’
‘*sigh* All in good time, Yasuo...’
“...I suddenly felt a presence... and my eyes immediately searched for its owner... I couldn’t call the person out if I wanted to remain unnoticed. It was a foreign presence - little did I know my wishes for that night would become reality...”
“By the time I saw the person approaching, I remained where I was. It took me a bit to see his face, but I sighed in relief at the moment I noticed the person coming my way was not Ionian. It was but a foreigner probably lost or looking for someone who spoke their language to help him get around. Those were my thoughts at the moment. It never crossed my mind that man coming closer would grow to become a friend... more than that, actually. So I chose to remain silent and waited to hear his voice...”
