La Emergencia Ambiental de la planta de fosfoyeso de Piney Point en el Condado Manatee, mantuvo en vilo durante meses a residentes de la zona y a las autoridades. Comunidades enteras fueron evacuadas. Los negocios permanecieron cerrados durante días. Y Telemundo 49 desde el primer momento reportó cada parte del proceso, cada decisión, y estuvimos allí, dentro y fuera de la Planta, mientras las autoridades buscaban alternativas para evitar la catástrofe. Earlier this month, a reservoir holding byproducts from an old phosphate mining operation at Piney Point , FL was in imminent danger of a collapse that would spill an incredible amount of wastewater into Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The situation has thus far kind of stabilized. There is no 20-foot wall of water barreling down to the ocean. The discharges are being monitored and, so far, meet water quality standards. I found another straw (and beverage liter) today on the beach during a break from work (lucky I can walk to a beach on break huh 🌊).
