Who are these guys? Some cartoon characters who emerged from a drawing session yesterday. Their clothing suggests suburbs. So, maybe … (an idea comes in with a flash) seemingly domesticated Wild Ones? (Gasp) I think I have an idea for a new comic…

More screenplay scenario writing. Sometimes, the stories are not superficial but relate to me directly in some way.
#Animation #Practice #TheSquisher exercise from the #AnimationBasecamp. This looked complicated, at first, but I did it!
These little roly poly guys… they are so fun to draw. In addition to portraying action, expression and a little comedy, it’s also a personal exercise in drawing volume and weight. Flour sacks or ‘Sac de farine’, in French, as a nod to my animation training in Canada. #practice #floursack #sacdefarine #animation #2Danimation
[I was drawing them and my brush pen accidentally glurped ink on my finger. This is what happens when you draw with real materials, for better or worse. I don’t get my hands dirty on a digital device.]
#TravelInJapan: an actual person on a bicycle. #bicycle #penandink #Kyoto #stripedshirt
#TravelInJapan: I noticed people riding #bicycles when I visited the larger towns. #drawing #penandink
Travel in Japan: Oigawa River, Kyoto. Near a Zen Buddhist temple : Senko-ji Temple.
These little flour sacks are super cute! What are they even doing? #drawing #practice #floursack #expressions
A flour sack, taking a few steps. #Practice Frankly, I like just making things move. #animation
The Shogawa River, in between Nanto and Ohara, western Japan. From my summer experience, it was very green. And hot.
2025 - It was supposed to be the rainy season but it skipped the rain and went right to hot.
I’m #Reading: ‘Animated Performance’, 2nd Ed. by Nancy Beiman.
The foreword is written by Lynn Johnston.
So far, even as I’m familiar with what Nancy is describing, she connected something for that I had not thought to connect. 🤯 This is valuable! #practice #animation
Consuming other people’s material is fine. Creating your own is how you know who you are.
It’s hot, first day of Summer Break. #practicewithmedrawing #journalcomics
More motion.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. I really miss you.
Happy Father’s Day! In memory of my Dad, I drew a portrait of him in one of his favorite places, the Irma Cafe in Cody, Wyoming. (To be honest, almost anywhere in Wyoming was his ‘happy place’ but this was on his list of repeat visits.)
Music accompaniment: Chris LeDoux ‘Paint Me Back Home In Wyoming’ .
What a perfect song for this post.
Highly recommended for Father’s Day elementary and adolescent family viewing: Disney’s #TheGoofyMovie. Excellent writing, excellent storyboarding, overall well done. It’s a personal favorite even when it’s not the holiday. youtu.be/aFYCQoIpGuE (Also, the water #efx #animation is top notch.)
Writing 3 screenplay scenarios as often as I can. How do I choose my subjects/stories? I find things that make me laugh or cry. Maybe these aren’t horror but there is tension. #practice #practicewithme #Writing
