So 2 weeks ago, I spent $50 on a toy lens. At first I was expecting a small piece of plastic with a hole in the middle (pinhole lens), but @slr_magic knows how to make a very elegant quality lens (even if it is a pinhole lens). Took it around to take some photos, and I must say, it's an amusing experience. It's all about patients and opportunity, and as others have said "understanding how light works".
