"The chickens at Rachel's farm are sick. Could you run to Mineral Town to pick up some eggs?" read the note from Clement that Felicity clutched between two fingers as she wandered the streets looking for a market to finish her boss' grocery shopping.
Still clad in her uniform, her heels clicked against the stone path. She was glad for the snow for once, as it gave her a reason to bury her nose in her scarf and not socialize with any passersby.
But her wandering got a little ridiculous when she had been in town for half an hour and found no trace of somewhere to buy eggs. She decided to approach the next person she came across to ask for directions.
"Excuse me?" She called out to a pink-haired stranger through the fabric of her scarf. "Where in this impossible town could I find some eggs to buy?"
Mynah birds can't be that much different from chickens, right?
Denny rocked back and forth on his heels outside the poultry farm, turning his neck to see if anybody was around. The actual store area was dark and the door was locked. But actually kind of needed bird seed. Popper was hungry and Denny felt uncomfortable giving him "people food."
pink-chickadee said: "Oh goodie!" Popuri squealed, making sure not to be too loud. Calming down a little, she tucking a few strands of pink behind her ear. "You should come to my house and we’ll have a sleepover!! I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever!"
"Your house?" The girl asked as she tilted her head to the side, still wiping the counter-- Slowly this time. It's been a while since she had a sleepover with the pinknette and she couldn't help it but nodded her head at the moment. "That's a good idea!"
After stopping by Claire's--and apparently also another Pete's-- farm, Jamie paid a visit to the Poultry farm. She had intended to see Rick and speak with him again, but instead he found a younger woman tending to the chickens instead. Vibrant pink hair and eyes and a cheerful aura to her. She reminded Jamie of Nina. Rick had mentioned to her once before that he had a sister working on the ranch as well.
"Is Rick in?" she asked as she walked onto the property. "I want to talk business with him." She did not interfere with whatever Popuri was doing, but she had done her homework. There were the hours the Poultry Farm sold their goods. She took a look at the chickens, just to see if Rick's sister had the same eye for detail her brother had in handling them.
*runs up to the stranger, her eyes wide and frantic. She's almost close to tears and she's out of breath* Help me! Please! This h-huge dog is chasing me-- I'm so scared!
Jamie looked at the woman and to Calvervtutrp, who was just sitting looking at her. It puzzled her as to why she was able to get onto her ranch, but she calmly answered,
*Comes into the library, a determined look on her face. She stands at the front counter and looks at Mary with serious, scarlet eyes* Mary I need your help! *realizes that libraries mean silence so she brings her voice down to a whisper and laughs lightly* Ah, please..
*Glances up from her book when she hears the door open suddenly, a look of surprise on her face* O-Oh! *Folds the book over her finger to keep her place* Of course. I don’t know how much help I would be, but I’ll try…
*leaves a bouquet of red roses on the counter for him with a note saying "Happy Valentine's Day!" and leaves before he sees her
((Also very late ack!))
Kai woke up late that morning, stumbling out to the front to make coffee still in his pajamas. As he sipped his drink, he stared at the flowers, wondering if he was just hallucinating.
He wasn’t.
"Popi…" He muttered, reading the card. Who else would it be but her? He didn’t know what to do… poor thing.
Falling in love with a guy like him was never a good thing.
Kai exhales heavily, turning away from the open sea to look at his new traveling companion. Popuri's cheeks are red with indignation, and she stomps her foot as he refuses to speak a word.
"Kai! I don't understand you!" She complains. "You let me come with you, yet your acting like you're mad I came."
"Of course I am!" He explodes. "Popuri, this is kidnapping. I could be arrested, I could be killed-"
"I'm an adult, Kai." She rolls her red eyes. "Like you've been harping to Rick all this time. I'm grown up, I can make my own decisions."
"Not if it means running off with me!" Kai waves his hand. "Popi, what kind of life is this for a girl, huh? There's no house waiting at the end of this boat-ride- just endless Inns and hard work. It's not all fun and games, you know."
"Of course it isn't!" She fires back. "But I don't care about any of that, so long as I'm with you."
Brown stares into red, and for a long time, it is silent. Kai turns away, exhaling heavily.
"So it's for love, is it?"
"Yes. Or should I say, si?" She giggles, wrapping her arms around his waist. "Kai, I'm happy where ever you are. What's so wrong with that?"
"Everything!" He cries. "Popuri, you have a family who loves you! How upset is Mrs. Lillia going to be when she finds your bed empty. And your brother? He's going to burst a blood vessel. What about your friends?"
"... you're making it sound like I did something wrong." She lets go of him. "I didn't do anything wrong Kai."
"Of course you didn't," He soothes, turning around and hugging her. "It was my fault. Los siento, Popi, I put all those stupid ideas into your head, and now you're running from your family."
"No!" She shoves him away. "I am not running from them. I'll still have a home to go back to, at the end of the day, unlike you!" Her hand flies to her mouth. "Oh, no- Kai-"
"I deserved that," He says after a long moment. "You're absolutely right. About... everything." He sighs. "I just don't want you to lose out on them."
"I won't." She slips her hand into his. "I can have my dream and my family too, you know. It's not one or the other."
"When did you get so grown up, huh?" He asks, planting a kiss on her forehead. She screws up her nose and pouts, reminding him of a five-year old.
"Ages back." Her scowl relaxes, and she suddenly looks mature beyond her years. "I was just waiting for you to notice."
