Pink cottages have always held a special fascination for me, especially if they are as pretty as this one and have a rustic picket fence in front of them with untamed roses rambling over it! Happy Monday everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! We have hosted a classic American Thanksgiving turkey dinner for friends on Saturday. I kept my autumnal pumpkin decoration up until yesterday when everything fall had to go and now I have a clean slate to start with to decorate for the Advents time and Christmas. How about you? Could you live in a pink house? I would have no problem to move into this soft pink beautiful cottage. The architectural features are just exquisite and if you think it is still a little bit too sweet then rest assured that it is all balanced out by a lovely ancient graveyard which is right opposite to it hidden by the old stone wall in the foreground of this photo. I am not making this up, it is really true! The cottage is another gem that I photographed in the old town named Rye in East Sussex, England. Properties in quaint little villages like Cavendish and Clare can range from pretty cottages to moated halls and boutique hotels. And with the colour embedded deep within Suffolk's history, it is of no surprise that so many buildings are painted this way.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The 'Suffolk Pink' dates back to the 14th century, where these pink shades were formed by adding natural substances to traditional limewash, like adding in elderberries which release a beautiful carmine red. Other methods included mixing pig or ox blood with buttermilk which was then painted onto a house.
