ever find yourself thinking, i like science fiction, but sometimes i wish it was more explicit about its social commentary? or maybe you're craving some seriously weird magical realism? or maybe you need a book that makes you feel like you're tumbling through space, with no idea where you're going to end up?

please read audition (2023) by pip adam. it is a story about prisons, justice, disability, social exclusion, class, oppression, and trying to be a better person to stop hurting the people around you. it's also about being stuck in a spaceship with totally confused memories, with no idea where you're going.

if you need more convincing, one of the main characters is trans, and the book ends in polyamory (? complicated).
