Wave of the Day, @Petemendia, Mainland Mexico⁣ ⁣ "I was actually trying to paddle to go left on that wave, and looked last second at the right," Pete Mendia said of this perfectly executed shack yesterday. "And then I thought I was going to go down on the drop -- which actually made the wave more fun. That day was super glassy with a ton of waves coming through -- everybody in the water was getting their share of good ones. And every once in a while, a great wave would come through. There was an invite only contest in the Canary Islands last week at a left slab called Quemao. General Mendia was the only American to get a spot in the main event. An honor indeed that called for the legendary free surfer to don a jersey, show up and blow up. Well done Pete!! Yeeeew!!
