In other fun news, a trans woman released a song about her experiences of joy as a woman and everyone is jumping down her throat because it's not a song about the tragic life of being a woman. Like I'm not a woman, but maybe people are allowed to find joy in their experiences of womanhood. Maybe women are allowed to express other emotions other than misery and suffering.

PS the fucking Barbie soundtrack, which was a self-described movie for all women had plenty of songs that had the exact same vibe, Dylan's song is legit just her experiences of trans girl joy.

The more cis people who get angry about it makes me enjoy it even more unironically tbh.

I stg people just want to argue with you sometimes and deliberately misconstrue your point.

I made a tiktok video where I complained that, when talking about JK Rowling and how she's currently denying the Holocaust, it makes me mad when people turn around and go "Yeah and she's a bad writer!" or something like that.

Like yes, absolutely she's a bad writer, HP is objectively bad and has plenty of examples of her bigotry. But we're not talking about HP right now, we're talking about someone being two steps away from agreeing with Hitler.

And someone commented, and continues to comment, about how it is absolutely relevant to talk about her books in these conversations because they contain evidence she's a bigot.

And sure, in conversations about how prevalent her bigotry is it's relevant, absolutely, but usually that's not what's happening and it's frustrating to hear people's opinion on her writing quality when talking about how she's causing so much hurt to the LGBTQ+ community.

What's frustrating is I don't even disagree with this person that the books are relevant to talk about in different circumstances, but if someone's response to "this person is a holocaust denier' is "I don't like the way they write children's books published 30 years ago" it's not helpful to the discussion.

More Palestinians have been killed in the past 135 days than Israelis killed in all of the conflicts Israel has ever been in. (18,000 Israeli deaths in all conflicts)

Mild rant about the Barbie movie and the Oscars, but not in the way you might be expecting.

People are complaining because Margo Robbie and Greta Gerwig didn't get nominated for best actress or best director, but can we talk about what it DID get nominated for?

Best picture

Best adapted screenplay

Two supporting actors are up for best supporting roles

Two songs up for best original song - What Am I Made For, and I'm Just Ken (I've seen a lot of buzz about it JUST being I'm just Ken)

Best costume design

Best production design

That's EIGHT nominations, including one of the most prestigious award a movie can win (best picture). The academy isn't snubbing Barbie, if they were they wouldn't be nominated for anything. Maybe Margot deserves an Oscar, I've not seen most of the other films the best actresses were nominated for, but one of them (Lily Gladstone) is the first First Nations person to EVER be nominated for an academy award, and I've heard hardly anything about her nomination at all. I don't think the point of the Barbie movie was "let's celebrate this specific woman and if she doesn't get a prize everything sucks", it was to support and bring up all women. That's also ignoring America Ferrara's nomination for best supporting actress, and arguably her character in the Barbie movie was the most important character with the biggest message / monologue in the film.

Also Barbie wasn't the be all and end all of movies either, it was a very middle of the road feminist movie, like entry level white feminism. People of Colour and First Nations people have had complaints about it, but noo, god forbid it doesn't get nominated for EVERY award under the sun instead of the 8 nominations it did get.

NOT TO MENTION the fact that the Oscars is a trash heap anyway.

I've had a buttload of transphobic comments on my tiktok lately because I said trans people would choose a bear over a cis person in the woods, and they DID NOT LIKE THAT, but transphobes insults are so FUNNY to me because I'll get told I'm the funniest shit, here are some examples:

* "You are a social contagion" - 9/10 insult, I aspire to be a plague on society

* Was told I am a trans woman - 11/10, this is the biggest compliment, all trans women are a million times cooler than I will ever be

* "You are scarier than a bear" - 100/10, will absolutely be going in my obituary one day when I finally die, hilarious mostly because I am the biggest wuss that ever existed

* "Bears will avoid you because they know you're toxic because you have blue hair, also bears prefer their meat to be leaner" - 8/10, sounds like it's still the correct choice to choose bear because they're so repelled by being fat and having hair dye whereas cis people will be a dick.
