Pirates of the Caribbean Reboot Back on At Disney

Earlier this year the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot lost the talents of Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) with no updates on their replacements for months. According to Deadline, Disney has drafted in Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Pirates veteran Ted Elliott to put the script together. While it remains unclear if Johnny Depp will be reprising his Oscar-nominated role as Captain Jack Sparrow, it is believed that the new movie will serve as a complete reboot. Disney has been toying with the idea of a reboot for more than a year after the belated fifth movie failed to match the success of the previous sequels. Dead Men Tell No Tales (or Salazars Revenger) ranked as the second lowest grossing franchise with $788 million worldwide.
