ARRR! 🏴☠️ Shiver me timbers... it’s #TalkLikeAPirateDay! AVAST YE MATEY! Let’s chat about @thepirateshouse in #SavannahGeorgia. COMPLIMENTS OF THE PIRATES HOUSE Seven blocks west from where General Oglethorpe landed in 1733, our history begins. #Savannah’s World Famous #PiratesHouse is located on one of the most historic spots in #Georgia. It was first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a meeting point for #pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Since then, #ThePiratesHouse has been entertaining visitors with a bounty of delicious food, drink, and rousing good times! COMPLIMENTS OF 👻 GHOST CITY TOURS Leading from the Rum Cellar in the basement of the Pirates House to #RiverStreet is a tunnel. Though it has since been covered over, the tunnel was used as a portal to carry the men through. Men would drink at the bar, get drunk, pass out and wake up on a ship a few miles off of shore. They were forced into work, and sold to the sea captians. Murders, fights, brawls…you name it happened in this building. It seems that some of the people who visited the Pirates House, or the building that houses it anyways, had such a great time that they decided to stay even beyond death.
