Millie sat cross-legged on the floor. She had no less than eight books scattered around her, all opened with messy notes scribbled in the margins. She held a pencil in her mouth lengthwise as she tried to keep her laptop balanced on her knee as she reached for one of the further away tomes. Then, finally, as she sat with her small body stretched as far as it could go, she noticed something.
“Oh,” she said, blinking. She didn’t even bother straightening up. “When did you...? How long have you been there?”
It wasn’t unusual for Minnie to end up in her dorm. They’d been practically attached at the hip since they were playing in sandboxes. Still, it was usually hard to miss him. She hadn’t been that engrossed in her final paper research, had she?
