You could have planted them in little plastic cups and hang them on the wall or suspend midair by a makeshift frame. I used to do that with mungbeans for my biology assignment :3
I’m afraid little cups won’t do, what I planted was pak choi (/ bok choy/ 白菜) the small pots I used were hindered their growth.
They are supposed to be ready to be harvested within 45 days but 35 days had passed and they were still... smol lol
I used to cover them with a food cover when they were in small pots, this made them 100% safe but couldn’t be grown majestic veggies UvU
SO in order to get bigger, I moved them into bigger pots that can’t be fitted under a food cover and that’s how it ended hahaha. (I covered them with net instead, the birds can’t harm them, yes, but not the rats)
(I even discussed this with my friends if I can get a small cage or box to protect the plant, but I’m busy with work right now so no planting any time soon)

So young…so tender leafy greens…taken too soon (((((((comforting embrace)))) I hope those rats got diarrhea
If they got diarrhea then it’s a good thing I (or my family members) am not the one who ate those veggies lol

Oh right, by the way, I’m not going to post the daily progress this week. I will continue posting after I PASS the last save point.
