one of the important things about transient tactics (aka piss quest, a project i'd like to work on after space force if everything pans out - i'm uncertain if everything will pan out, but hopeful) is that lys and lim are literally Just Good Friends. they kinda fuck each other up sometimes and they don't always understand each other, but at the end of the day they share a deep respect and a love forged of solidarity, if not of romantic feelings. they both know that no one else will have their back (at least until bhastra earns their trust and they earn hers).
i mean lys totally hooks up with bhastra, there's plenty of romance there (even if, again, they don't always understand each other and don't always agree with each other's methods), but lim doesn't go for that. in modern parlance they would be ace and probably aro but since this is like a pseudo-medieval high fantasy setting i'm not gonna go out and say that, just try to let it evolve naturally from their character.
basically: it's gonna be gay as hell
Eva's game is going to be really important to me and knowing that about a game that's in pre-production feels weird
How would you describe the main characters of piss quest, what do they look like
a) gay as hell, and let me copy from my design doc:
LYSISTRATA (LYS), THE WARRIOR WOMAN Look: Olive complexion, tall, and muscular. Tends to hold herself in a way that gives her an unapproachable air. Spends most of her time in armor, generally wears some kind of padded doublet and breeches on the rare occasions she’s out of it. Gradually grows more feminine features over the course of the game as the women’s draught does its stuff. At game start, she’s been using it for about a year. Demeanor: Stoic, impulsive, not afraid to stick up for herself. Doesn’t like to get too close to people, chafes at command and obligation.
LIM, THE WOODSWITCH Look: Mahogany complexion, small and slender. Tends to hold themself in such a way that they seem even smaller. Lim wears bulky, concealing clothes covered in charms and satchels and whatnot. They like to keep most of their face hidden behind scarves, high collars, wide-brimmed hats, and the like, but you can still see some of it. Demeanor: Withdrawn and quiet, keeps their own counsel. If they absolutely must talk to someone, they usually get Lys to talk for them.
BHASTRA, THE BANDIT LIZARD Look: Lizardfolk from the eastern badlands. Purple scales with white accents. Slightly shorter than Lys, but lithe. Long, toothy snout. She wears a hodge-podge of leather, hide, furs, and animal skulls taken as trophies. Demeanor: Amoral and exceedingly mercenary. Outgoing, but more in the sense that she likes to get under people’s skin in small, subtle ways, but never out of outright cruelty. Has a poor track record with respecting personal space.
no really
what about the story of the codependant relationship between a nonbinary woodswitch who relies on a warrior woman for physical protection while the warrior woman relies on the witch to keep brewing the women’s draught from mare piss for her
what about the task they set themselves upon, to track down strange and fantastic creatures and catalogue the potency of their excretions for best alchemical results for the women’s draught
as if i didn’t have enough game projects already, now i’m thinking about Piss Quest on top of them
