I was talking to my mom earlier in the season explaining how worried I was about what was going on with Mohan’s character, and so she of course in a very my mother way was like well you’re always telling me it’s about realism, why are you pissed now?
I was explaining how her arc and a few other characters arcs were very clearly portraying how WOC especially get sidelined, but that it was seeming less like they were trying to show that as a thing that happens that is bad (more specifically stuff like Louie’s whole thing that felt like watching smth deeply fucking wrong. and other patients requesting black women and them being like cool:) I’m Whitaker and this is Ogilvie and we’re good enough:) sucks Collins left (pans to Robby) she was great. She’s gone now tho because our boss is a racist misogynist but also a Good Guy which is why everyone else should leave but he shouldn’t have to dig into anything too deep) and more just. The writers and creators biases choosing favorites. Like oh we’re going for realism and realism means making the white guys the main characters?And making all of the other characters fall flat when necessary for their stories? Especially the WOC? Like is that really the place where we need to uphold realism?
