Begging for more female Darkners in the next Chapter please and thank you-
I’m genuinely very surprised that there isn’t more art/posts about Tenna and Susie’s dynamic in Chapter 3. They’re so cute. Like, judging by his dialogue, Susie was one of the first people to give him attention and actually WANT to watch him in years; his first enthusiastic audience member since Kris was a kid and the family was together. It’s so sweet, and you can tell she really cares about him too, since she’s the one who basically leads the mission to repair him
Sorry, I’m just a sucker for paternal/caregiver-y characters and their (usually unintentionally adopted) daughters—
My fiancée and I deliberately didn’t give Tenna to Mettaton during our playthrough because we needed to know if he has more interactions with The Fun Gang. I’m also super curious to see if he’ll ever meet Noelle, and if he would recognise her from Kris’s childhood-
An important thing to acknowledge about Toriel and Tenna’s hypothetical dynamic (romantic or otherwise) is that it is impacted by Tenna being/seeing himself as an object, a husband/parental figure stand-in, and a neglected son all at the same time.
In this essay, I will-
I’m sorry, what do you MEAN Deltarune Chapters 3&4 are a YEAR OLD today??
Well, uh, happy one year to the game that single-handedly cured my identity problems! Probably should have made some art for it or gotten the next chapter of Static Snow ready, but oh well!
So, Chapter 5’s Weird Route is so good I can’t bring myself to make art of it, but the actual meat of the Chapter is so Nothing to me I ALSO don’t want to make art for it.
However, what I HAVE learnt is that some components of Static Snow were bang on the money in regards to Noelle and Tenna’s relationship/characterisation.
Chapter 5’s Weird Route is genuinely one of the most harrowing, compelling, and uncomfortable things I have witnessed in a game. An absolutely masterful sequence.
Then there’s rest of it, which sure is a Thing You Have to Play
My one silly little headcanon that I know makes no actual sense in canon is that Franco used to watch Mother Gooseberry on TV as a kid. In the Poison the Medicine map, you see a load of boxes of Futterman plushies near the ship; maybe Easterman put those there because he knows how much Franco wanted one.
I don’t know, I just enjoy the idea of a hypothetical voice line of Franco going up to Gooseberry and being like: “Hey! I know you! I used to watch you when I was little!”. It would be sweet for all of like, two minutes before either of them made it weird. Bonus points if it’s a Prime Time voiceline for the Fun Park where Franco also laments that he never got taken to anywhere like Futterland-
Hi!
I just wanted to tell you Ioved the recent updates to Static Snow, the horror chapter was my fav!
If you're still accepting art request, could you show us how you imagined Monster!Tenna's look for that chapter? I really liked your descriptions of him. If not that's okay!
Have a nice day!
Aww! Thank you so much, I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying it- and yes, I’m still taking art requests, especially if they relate to Static Snow! :>
Honestly, the wonderful art by @olaonamoona was pretty close to what I had envisioned, but here’s my “canon” version:
This isn’t the most original monster-y Tenna design in the world, I know, but it was my vision while I was writing. I wanted it to be pretty close to how Tenna looks normally, but with a tiny bit of scary flair. Noelle is pretty easily spooked, so I imagine he wouldn’t need to do TOO much. Honestly, I think most of the horror would come from his size and the sounds he’d make: a mixture of screeching static and spliced up channels to create sentences.
