I want to Do a (shorter) Middlemarch. Judgy omniscient narrator, ensemble cast, etc. I think it'd be nice to serialize. ~modern-ish setting but with some (very) light fantasy elements, mostly a Big Inert Crystal, tbd. Anyone around here into that sort of thing? A potential dedicated audience of like ~5 sounds pretty motivating here for whatever reason.
decided to not use english voice over with tighnari for sad reasons and um. japanese makes him sound like a high school anime protagonist
"hey cerium, you wouldn'T happen To know whaT your Troll lusus is inTo piTchwise would you?"
"teagan.....you did not just ask me what I think you did." she asked with a playful little push against the ceruleans arm "dude I'm pretty sure moms way older than we both are" she said with a happy little laugh, not quite knowing teagans age herself.
"but nah.... I honestly don't know. She's always been so sweet and caring but... I guess if you're someone who can pull that more Scottish tone out of her she'd be a bit more willing to think pitch I guess" she hummed softly, shifting the egg in her hold. "someone who can get her sailing and swimming again rather than being a homebody at the library. Be her rival and not just a hateful fling like most people do nowadays"
(A/N: I wish these two would *just kiss already*)
Okay I gotta admit the blond brat sounds good when he yells
Every Last One: Update No.1
Hey. So I first posted a little concept of my character Jamie with the intention of avoiding a dull text wall as the original impression I left, but no context was really given about Jamie’s character or even what he’s for.
Long story short, I’m trying to make a game, and Jamie is the main character. It’s called Every Last One, and is going to be a platformer with classic pixel art and a focus on storytelling and boss encounters. However, this is also my first foray into coding, animation and video game music so it’s going to be hugely difficult to multitask development, design and school-work by my lonesome.
The game is based around Jamie’s odyssey through a warped sewer network to the focal point of an other-worldly invasion in order to undo the genocide of humanity. While this has a rather grand sound to it, I hope to give the narrative a slightly more grounded feel with a tight focus not on the stakes of the journey, but on the relationship between the protagonist and antagonist. The idea for these aliens that invade came from Yin and Yang, and their main feature of interest is that they exist in pairs, and when they do so they are all-powerful, and un-feeling. As a race, the threat of them is that they became so aware of the workings of their world that they began travelling planet to planet, wiping out civilisations and mimicking their cultures for entertainment. They do this by controlling the planet’s inhabitants, deriving amusement from acting out stereotypes and stories upheld through the varying cultures while slowly draining the life from these husks until they must move on again. If, through some mutation or fluke the alien develops emotional attachment, the partnership is compromised and the alien will split apart. These pairs of deviants are either maddened by mortality and continue to follow in the others’ steps- in which they’re kept alive for their utility- or they become conscious of their actions and try to resist, in which they’re killed off. In the role of the villain of the game, is one of the former.
This alien developed feelings of disgust and distaste for the beings he felt were below him, and makes it his personal vendetta to hunt down Jamie. But he has his own motives to hate this creature- Jamie was the first victim of the invasion, and was puppeteered by the antagonist (who remains nameless due to the nature of his race) into murdering his family. This event traumatises him, and following his escape from the monster’s grasp, is his main trial throughout the game’s journey as he evades recapture.
As a final note before I bore you (the sole, intrepid reader who somehow found this), the main gameplay loop will include platforming sections that inform the player of unique mechanics before a climactic boss battle to cap off an area/zone/level. These bosses, will each be a member of Jamie’s family controlled by the villain, and I aim to hint at all of the afore-spouted exposition through the reactions our protagonist has to this, rather than throwing it at whoever plays it as I have for you.
And that’s the (admittedly complicated) foundation that sets up the story of my game, and I hope you like some of the ideas I’ve had. Soon some designs for the aliens should be developed, and I’ll put them up here ASAP.
So- have a good one, and if you did manage to find this and I’ve just wasted your time, I apologise. At this point, it’s my specialty.
