Could you write a literal "Love Myself" fic (pretty please) where Hailee meets Emily Junk in real life and the two hook up at a party?
smh anon
Emily has a complicated relationship with her reflection.
It’s not that she doesn’t like how she looks; she does. Well, most days. Sometimes she doesn’t? But not all the time. She does and doesn’t both an average normal amount. Unless she’s PMSing which, like, she’s a feminist and that totally doesn’t affect anything!! Except you know, when it does? But whatever, bloating is totally a thing, okay?!
So yeah. It’s complicated and stuff.
It’s just she’s looking at her reflection right now while getting ready for this party and her hair feels off and her eyeliner feels off and she just feels totally off!
But she’s still excited to go out and she probably isn’t looking off, she just probably is PMSing. Totally valid excuse, even though her period was last week, but whatever she can pretend all she wants.
“Legacy! Are you ready?” Stacie peeks her head into the room, her entire body following when she sees Emily staring into the mirror. “Damn girl. You always manage the perfect blend of hot and cute. I love it.”
Emily scrunches her nose in disbelief, watching as her reflection scrunches its nose back. Meh. “You think? I feel…”
“Totally,” Stacie nods. She tugs on Emily’s belt, adjusting it a little. “There, perfect. Now come on, let’s go!”
She grabs Emily’s hand and Emily has just enough forethought to grab her phone off the vanity before they’re out for the night.

The party is in downtown LA and Stacie gets them in, maybe because she knows a few A-listers from her dancing gigs, but more likely just because she’s Stacie. The walls thump with the music, so loud Emily almost isn’t sure she’s hearing it as much as it’s rattling up and down her spine and in her chest.
The DJ, some hotshot Emily has never heard of, and her bubbly redheaded girlfriend, are tight with Stacie, so they basically get all their drinks for free. Emily is dancing and she’s drinking and she’s dreaming her life into existence under the flashing lights of the party.
There’s a girl dancing behind her and they move so in sync or maybe she’s so drunk that it seems she could be dancing with herself.
She’s dizzy with freedom, and when she turns around to look at who she’s been dancing with, her head spins.
The girl looks eerily familiar, like an old friend she once knew but has now lost touch with. Long brown hair over one shoulder, dark eyes, bright smile. Emily knows her… and she doesn’t.
There’s something about her, like looking in the mirror and feeling off, that has Emily unsure, but is a this a weird side effect of that PMS she’s claiming to be experiencing that she totally isn’t experiencing?
“Do I know you?” Emily screams over the music.
The girl smiles and it tugs at Emily, like her favorite song and a childhood memory and everything feels too familiar and so new.
“You look familiar,” the girl screams back.
Emily squints. “So do you.”
“You look like me!”
“Uh,” Emily laughs. “You look like me.”
The girl just grins, and grabs Emily’s hand and Emily doesn’t know what’s happening (this feels weird, is it weird? It’s totally weird and you just could not think this stuff up….), but some song about loving yourself comes on and the girl is leading her outside and Emily thinks things are about to get weird.

(They get weird. Kissing someone who is basically yourself is weird. Emily thinks she saw a Broad City episode like this once. It’s weird.)

“Hey, there you are!” Stacie says later when Emily’s found her near the bar. “What were you up to?”
“Uh,” you know, Emily says as she catches her reflection in the mirror above the bar. “Just was lovin’ myself.”
