Heat data on pit firing still inconclusive. Cone 022 still not noticeably affected, but the cone pack, which was made from Highwater “Half and Half,” and is bisqued from the firing. . This experience makes me appreciate the early ceramicists in their attempts to fire hotter along with working to adapt the materials to the temperatures that they could manage at the time. . I’m thinking that this firing did reach hotter temperatures than the last one, but that heat wasn’t efficiently used. . I’ll have time to think about what modifications to make next while I gather more scrap wood for the next firing. . #ceramics #kilnlife #pitfiredpottery
