So, I was in my mythology lecture this morning and the professor told us about a talk tonight about rock carvings in the Alps and how researchers were using film and 3D printing to research it better and what not. I thought it sounded pretty cool, and since I had nothing else to do, I went. When I got there, it was a small room with a table and about 12 chairs. My professor was there, along with the researcher from Cambridge, and about 8 graduate students in the classical department. I'm a freshman. There was wine and cheese and fruit and crackers. After a few minutes of small talk ( which was understandably a little awkward for me) the talk started. It was actually very interesting! It was about the pitoti which was very fascinating! Look it up, it's so cool. Anyway, about 15 minutes in, the head of the classics department showed up and sat in the empty chair next to me. He was a very elderly gentleman. Every time he went to pour himself a cup of wine he'd offer to pour me a cup too. I'm 18. Of course everyone else was old enough to drink, so it was a reasonable assumption. I had to refuse every time. It was an interesting two hours.
