GOD can we bring back pixel dolling i miss that shit SO MUCH i used to spend hours noodling around with different bases. some of the sites are still up, like autumn pixels and pinkland, but most of them don’t exist and that makes me sad. so many beautiful bases gone forever :(

The oldest doll I have on my computer is labeled 'mid 07' and I know I joined dA in July and started dolling shortly after that, so I think it must have been about August. So, as of this month, I've probably been dolling for around eight years. Here's a progress timeline!

All of these are dolls I was pleased with at the time, or which were especially challenging for me. I hope if any new pixel dollers somehow see this it is encouraging.

baseless pixel for MDF, second entry. She is a dwarf duchess. 

I ended up changing the palette for her formal dress but I might change it again because I am just not sure. Her cloak didn't turn out great, but I freaking love how the fur ended up. LOOK AT IT. IT'S SO TEXTURY. I tried a new technique and I will definitely be using that in the future. I'm overall pretty pleased with her!

So this is my first entry for MDF. I didn't manage to finish it last night but I did today so I can start on the next one today too! 

I generally spell her name Kyoraka, because that's how I'm used to spelling it, but according to my current Kashithes orthography it should be with a j, so that's how I've put it here. 

I won't be turning her in for a couple of days yet so if you see something wrong feel free to let me know so I can fix it!

Nick and Alice for a Zombie apocalypse AU. It had a one-character limit, so I had this whole background, but then I did Nick for fun and I covered it up. Ah well.

Bases

Another contest - you had to doll a literary character as their normal self, then from a different time period (Earth, I assumed), then from a different genre.  I decided on Elphie. I went with a nun for the time period, based on her time spent as a maunt in the novel. And then for the genre, scifi, because I thought she would be a good alien. I'm really proud of how this doll is like 80% blacks, but they all look different. But i haven't the faintest idea of how I did, because I have a terrible habit of entering contests and forgetting all about them and therefore losing the links. Sigh.

There was this style meme going around where you dolled one character in a bunch of different styles and of course I went for Rincewind. I didn't like all of them, but here are the ones I did. Your own style, chibi, another doller's style (Sheesha was who I was shooting for here), Hogwarts/LOTR/Star Wars style (obvious which I chose, ended up with a whole headcanon, ask me about that sometime if you want to be bored to tears. Also, come talk to me about Rincewind's house, I'm not sure if I like what I went with), and steampunk.
