My brother and I rented Bubble Bobble quite a number of times back in the early NES days..

Are you playing as..

..A fish?

Are you an aquatic lizard? Water dragon?

Who knows— this 8-bit game plays well, and is just soo much fun!

This isn’t the first time I’ve done pixelTANGLE for Bubble Bobble. The last time -years ago- [post 0291] was when I was learning how I DIDN’T want to do pixelTANGLE. As a practice it’s nice, but this piece is much more polished towards the direction my art needs to flow.

welcome to chapter XI

I forgive Nintendo for tricking us into believing Doki Doki Panic was an actual sequel to Super Mario Bros. They couldn’t have found a better game to redraw the sprites to.

I was there when they had the whole country fooled. They had us going for years! I didn’t learn it was another game until well past the release of the Super Nintendo. We didn’t even consider it until playing Super Mario All-Stars for the first time.

Besides Luigi’s floaty jump and Princess Toadstool’s [Peach’s] hovering jump[that they’ve reused in a number of other games]- I really enjoyed the veggie throwing mechanic.

I’ll be overjoyed when Nintendo pumps out more Super Mario Bros. games that let us throw turnips. Just my 2 coins on it.
