Your Local Pixie
Pixie’s were known to be curious creatures. Hoseok was no exception. He had always been curious when he came across things unknown to him.
So when he came across a temple not too far from where he’d begun building his new home, he was more than intrigued. He hadn’t realized it had been there when he’d begun building. He thought back to conversations he’d had with others of his kind and he couldn’t remember a single Pixie mentioning a God in the area.
His sunset wings fluttered as they carried him up to the door. Letting his feet touch the smooth marble, he knocked on the temple door, tipping his head as he listened, pointed ear twitching. No sound came from inside and he tried pushing the door open, a frown pulling at his lips when he only felt it move slightly, not opening properly.
“Who would bar up a temple…?” Hoseok’s voice was quiet as he reached into the small satchel on his hip, patting around for a moment before he pulled out a small bag. He opened it and took a small amount of dust between his fingers before he threw it in the air above him, putting the bag back before he felt the dust cascade over him.
He closed his eyes to stop it from getting in them and when he opened them again, the door was much bigger than before.
Well, it wasn’t bigger. He was just much, much smaller. He waved a hand in front of his face to rid himself of the feeling of the Pixie Dust. He hated the feeling of that stuff, no matter how useful it was.
His wings fluttered and easily carried him into the air, letting his soar above the roof of the temple. He found a small crack forming on the top of the temple, probably due to the age of the building. With he door barred, there was no one who could upkeep the ancient temple, so Hoseok wasn’t too surprised that it was falling apart.
He easily slipped his body through the hole in the stone, a quiet humming coming from how quickly his wings were working to keep him up. He stared around him and his lips parted as he stared at the beautiful sight.
The temple was overgrown with plants, moss hanging from the ceiling and climbing up the walls. Vines that had been growing up the sides of the temple were now growing through the cracks and holes in the stone building. Birds and reptiles seemed to have made their home in the plants and Hoseok watched a few crested geckos scurry up the wall, darting into a bundle of vines.
Diving further into the main room of the temple, Hoseok let out a loud shriek when he saw a tongue flying toward him. He was quick to move out of the way, turning to look at the frog that had tried to eat him.
“Excuse me! That was rude! I’m not food!” The tongue came toward him again and Hoseok, once again moved away. “Alright, listen here, fucker!” Hoseok reached for his sandal to throw it at the frog but stopped when he saw large, tanned hands coming into view. He was quick to fly back, following up the arms of the being, noticing small patches of scales. His eyes took in the snake tail that seemed to go on for miles and miles before he lifted his gaze to the face of this creature.
Horns curled out of silver hair and when their eyes lifted to look at Hoseok, that’s when it hit him.
This was the God of this temple.
But something didn’t look right. The eyes of the Naga looked so tired, dark circles framing his piercing blue eyes. His cheeks looked hollowed, like he wasn’t eating enough.
Do God’s eat? Do they need to eat?
Hoseok shook his head and was quick to pull out his bag of Pixie Dust, setting his feet on the marble floor before he threw some dust above his head.
In only moment, Hoseok was standing at his full height, though it still wasn’t much compared to the size of the Naga before him.
“What brings you here, Young One?” The Naga’s voice was soft but his words sounded strained very tired.
“I live nearby and I found your temple,” Hoseok bowed to the God, though he wasn’t exactly sure who it was. “Forgive me, but I do not know who you are. I am not very well educated when it comes to Gods.”
“I am Jimin, the God of Love.”
“I am Hoseok, your local Pixie! It is lovely to meet you, Jimin,” Hoseok giggled, looking up to meet the eyes of the Naga. “See what I did there? Lovely? Because you’re the God of Love?”
This seemed to pull a smile to Jimin’s lips and his shoulder’s relaxed slightly.
“Charming,” Jimin hummed, resting back on his tail, letting some of it slip into the water next to him. Hoseok smiled brightly, his lips forming the shape of a heart.
“I’m glad you think so!” Hoseok looked around him for a moment before his smile slowly disappeared. “If you don’t mind me asking, what happened here? Why is the door barred up?”
Jimin was silent for a moment before he let out a slow breath, eyes lowering to where his hands were folded in his lap.
“My Champion died some time ago. I was so pained by his death, I could not stand to even be around anyone, even my own worshipers. I loved him…” Hoseok’s eyes widened and he took the time to take in Jimin’s appearance again. His form was thin and he looked almost sickly.
“The God of Love lost his love,” Hoseok whispered, slowly walking toward the Naga. The God didn’t move away, just nodded slowly as he lifted his eyes to look at Hoseok. “You look so sick, and it makes sense now. You feed off love, but you…”
“I don’t have that anymore.”
“You’ve closed it off completely.”
They stared at each other for a moment before Hoseok slowly reached forward and let his fingers trace over Jimin’s cheek, watching the other’s eyes slowly close.
“I’m so sorry for your loss… I do hope love will come to you soon,” Hoseok whispered, reaching down to take Jimin’s hand in his own. “Until it does, I will come take care of you, okay? You would surely lose your mind staying here all alone much longer. Just think of me as your comedic relief. I’ll do my best to make you smile.”
Jimin lifted his eyes to Hoseok’s, his plump lips parted as he stared at the Pixie. Then his lips slowly spread into a wide smile, one that pushed his eyes into small crescents.
“I think I’ll take you up on that offer, Hoseok…”
