hyojin hasn't been heard of in three days. no one, not even those of neugdaedeul know where she is or where she had gone and in gang life that can only mean one thing. death. but jaesung refuses to believe that is what she is. dead. gone. hyojin is strong and fearless. she doesn't need anyone to protect her or defend her and still jaesung can't help but give it his own try to find her. he won't rest until he does.
it's an old ritual she told him about many years ago, that of summoning a demon. one that he never ended up trying himself, but it was a fairly easy and he made sure to hold onto the memory. still he's certain she won't be very appreciative of it, him meddling into her business when he has no longer the right to, but at least he'll know she's alive. he will take the yelling and scowling if that's what it will take.
limiting the exchange of words with the wolves of neugdaedeul to an absolute minimum, he hadn't bothered to ask if they had tried this approach already. yet even if they had, he doubted they would have done it right . so he travels through the darkest of the night, a pre-written note crumpled up in his fist which he kept buried in the pockets of his jeans, the other one clenched around a lighter.
it's late - near to midnight, still jaesung glances over his shoulder before he halts at the crossroad. there could be another perfectly fine explanation for her disappearance besides actual death, so for her sake he tries to be as discrete as he can.
he pulls the lighter out of his pocket and holds it under the note, holds it until the flames tickle his fingertips and he drops it to the ground. stomping the fire out with his foot as he keeps his ears perked, waiting for any kind of sign, a sound to indicate that hyojin is still a living and breathing human being.
only it isn't hyojin that stands in front of him, but a man with a set of features he hadn't ever seen before. eyebrows drawing together, he lets out the air he's been holding in. the appearance leaves him speechless and it's not too hard to tell.
"i'm not sure what went wrong here."
