Yo dude! Do u got any tips or resources on making greaser characters? figured ur an expert on the topic
look at the different subcultures, see what era of greaser you actually want to portray, there’s this youtuber named Kryptic Art that explains greasers in the modern era and their roots, listen to their music, and i even kinda touched on this in this post and this one.
It all depends on what sorta look/greaser you’re going for, whether it’s a cat that listens to psychobilly or the classic rock ‘n roll sound, both are from different eras so that means different issues and politics and economies. But being a rebel and going against the norms is always forever in our blood.
Gaaah!! I love your art so much! Your style and designs are so cute and your colors are so nice and pleasing to look at!! <3
aghsjdbdjdjs thank you so much!!! that means a lot to me, i really appreciate that! :)) 🥺🥺🥺
Terri ur art is so good and gay
Thamk u. I do try
Hey! I liked how this came out but I feel like the lightening doesn’t really illustrate the mood I’m trying to set of the character being mysterious and threatening. I could also use some tips for shading, specifically clothing folds, since I’m trying to get better at that. Thank you a lot!
I get the feeling you’re trying to express some sort of duality with how the character is partially kept in shadow. It’s a great idea to bathe potentially mystical or dangerous characters in the dark to appeal to our deepest sense of unease.
What I would do, is to simply amp up the contrast in this image. So that one half of the character is cloaked in shadow, and the other light up more starkly. This is to emphasize the duality of the composition you’ve already go going, and kind of “oompf” the light / dark dynamic. Perhaps I’d even experiment with making the rest of the room even darker, depending on just how threatening you want the character to be.
As for shading, I’ve got a tutorial coming up next time on Chatterbuck’s, so I’d keep an eye out for that if I where you. But for now, let's break it down in your drawing.
I’ve - very roughly- blocked out some shadows on the clothing in the top example. Which addresses some of the smaller folds in the shirt, these address what we could call “ secondary shapes”. But if we have ‘secondary shapes’, what are the primary shapes then?
^this is primary shapes. When drawing and constructing an outfit, it can help to imagine the outfit as “ a body “ on its own, and construct it like it was just any other piece of anatomy. This way, you can easily divide the figure into the “light” and “dark” parts. From these rough and robust parts- you can then pick which folds you want to extend your shading into, these usually being the deepest and largest folds.
Just like the amp in the dark and light of the composition, I would probably also boost the darkness of the shadows in your clothing to make them even clearer, which in turn can make the image look richer.

Yo dude would it be cool if I also took requests for ego fusion designs?
Sure!!
Please don't ever apologize for leaving lots of tags bc it makes me very happy :D (especially cuz you got my intentions right!)
oh hell yes thank you!!!!! i will most likely rant in your tags again one day. that piece is incredible, thanks for drawing it! THAT’S MY SONNNNN
I want to see my little boi! HERE HE COMES! (aka the smug anti in the background of that drawing gives me life)
I was actually drawing something for the TLA blog (shameless plug to go check out @askthelittleassistant!!) When I doodled Anti and @pizsospa caught onto the meme I was referencing and made this quick edit!!
