Wednesday - Typical artist, wanting every step to be as pretty as the last one.
Day 9 of figure drawing! Today I decided to switch things up. I discovered that Line of Action has a “Faces and Expressions” option. It’s pretty intimidating to try to draw a face in 30 seconds, which are the first 10 faces in the image above. But I’m going to give it more shots this week since it is something to break up the monotony of drawing bodies everyday and apparently also very challenging. Drawing form on faces is so important and it’s something I only kind of understand - I could get better at it.
I laid in some shadows and tone for The Bedroom. It feels like I’m a long way away from finishing this, but it’s probably not as much as I think. It always feels like this when I get to this part, and I have to remember that it’s way closer than I think. If I did more pieces like this more regularly, this part wouldn’t be so daunting. I had to look at an old piece of mine and turn off all the lighting layers to boost my confidence in this one. Looking at just the flat colors, like from yesterday, always makes me feel like I failed even though I’m only half way done. Typical artist, wanting every step to be as pretty as the last one. Which is why all art practicing doesn’t seem that fun.
Added the last of the cheese animation to this quarter of Pizza Table....
...and roughed out the hands for THE LAST quarter! We’re so close now! My goal is to have all of the clean line animation done for all four characters (and pizzas) by the end of September. Which is very attainable.

Animations like this make me appreciate those days where I watched cartoons all day. Only a 90s baby would understand.
